Salutations.
As a DS operator, and a turret gunner for other vehicles, I have the answer to your question. And unfortunately or you, it's not a happy one.
Dust's mechanics regarding impact, shoving, and compression were designed even before the 2013 official release. Except for some famous Lav road-kill adjustments, these mechanics don't seem to have been changed at all over the course of Dust's existence.
A dropsuit heavily buffers the wearer from IMPACT. "Buffer" explains why you lose some shield/armour hp free-jumping from a moderate height, and die free-jumping from a greater height. Your suit protects you even better from Horizontal SHOVING. Only a fast-moving Lav can kill by SHOVING into you (aka, murder taxi).
ROLL-OVER is what HAV operators do to occasionally kill a player. Whether slowly over you from a high rock or platform, or over you at moderate speed on a road, the HAV is the only vehicle that can accomplish ROLLING over you. (If a Lav tries a role-over, you simply get shoved or tossed aside in your dropsuit)
COMPRESSION is what a DS can accomplish (as well as any vehicle tumbling or falling from a short height). I think the idea is that if you are "pinched" or "squashed" between the vehicle and the ground hard enough, your suit bursts like an eggshell with you inside it. This is also true if my DS compresses a player (even its own driver in a bail-out) against a wall or column.
But remember, COMPRESSION is "Death by being Pinched against something". Your "pogo players" issue happily escapes that kind of DS-style kill.
....That doesn't mean you can't kill a pogo-hopping player with your Dropship. It just means you have to "impact" her to the ground or roof, and quickly flatten her before she can jump off the deck again.
Happy Hunting---err, squashing! 07 !!!

Nope, I'm sorry, but your suggestions are bending down the road called "interpretation". FUN as HECK, but still interpretation.
Sometimes we're interpreting what is actually a form of IMPACT or SHOVING or COMPRESSION (just like my three words here are an interpretation of CCP's mechanics).
Your speedy-tank kill... I'd call just a rare SHOVING kill.
And then those odd exploits (where a player gets "stuck" on a railing or in a wall, or "glued to the crack in the top of a Dropship), and he dies with his 50+ Kill in your wallet.... and there's no logical explanation for it-----he just lost his life... LOL, I'd interpret that as a glitch. Like landing my DS on the aft section of an MCC often causes "Celesta fell and died".
Still, as I said..... Happy Squashing!
Derpy, you're cracking me up, LOL!!!

Well.... the way you've delivered the post about the game... kind of makes it seem as though your derailing one person's thread in order to promote/advertize "Star Citizen".
....ouch.
But, I hope the game you're mentioning is very enjoyable for you. While you played Dust, were you a drophisp operator, and did you encounter any of the situations Derpy described?
