On every server I tried today, the stomping was epic. I started on the American server and realised there was something wrong when even the squad leaders on my (losing) side wouldn't attack.
So I tried Automatic and European, and with virtually every battle I got, it was clear my side was being stomped.
I'm not surprised so much by the stomping as by the fact that it was basicly ALL DAY. It usually doesn't start until later, but today it was basicly right from the start.
I've been trying to figure out how this stomping happens, given my theories on how matching happens. I've figured by pure logic that one side is filled with squads first, as this is the mechanism by which qsyncing works. So for pubs, if there are 4 squads available, they will fill one team, and the other team will be left without any squads at all. Less will give a less unbalanced match, but more will also do this.
Counterintuitively, 8 squads will give a fully balanced battle, and all other players, being solos, will go into a separate battle.
So how do we get such unbalanced battles? I observed the chevrons on both my team and the other team, and as a rule there were no squads on my team when there were squads on the other, however on the odd occasion when I landed a team with squads, there tended to be none on the other team, and I was (shamefully) part of the stomper team. This will happen if there are less than 4 full squads of 4 available for deployment.
The one match that had a squad on my side and we lost the other side was loaded with squads.
I saw so many other indicators of this sort of thing, which I won't bother going into here. Suffice to say, this stomping may be occurring due to decreasing player numbers. Of course it is just possible that there are now MORE rather than less players doing the stomping...
Whatever the reason, it was not an enjoyable experience. My wallet tells me about 3 out of 4 of my battles today were losses for my team. I don't accept the statement that you have to squad - I'll stop playing before I do that. I don't mind squadding on occasion, but all the time? No thanks. I shouldn't have to anyway. The game is just fundamentally badly unbalanced. |

I'll admit it's definitely the European server, we've known for a long time now. I love how people think that I (From Europe) am intentionally playing on EU server for this reason, yeah the server is 100 miles from me not 5000 miles from me, sure I'll suffer 1/4 second worth of lag..... I read about MU a lot. I gather it's a grading for people going into battles. How does it work, and how do I find out which one I'm in?
I suspect I've found myself now in the higher one because I'm suddenly up against the likes of people I only ever saw in FW or when squadded with very experienced players. Since I mostly solo, I usually didn't see these guys, now I'm seeing them all the time.
How do I find out my MU? |
