1. Develop Update
2. Update is pre-preliminary tested by developers, any noted bugs or glitches are fixed
3. Update is sent to be tested by a group of professional game testers, who further test for bugs and glitches, and those are fixed before the next step.
4. Update is released on a private test server, with a few thousand of the game population receiving access to the server randomly, the players then note any bugs or glitches they encounter, and the dev team corrects them.
5. Update is released, bugs and glitches should not be occurring or be very minimal due to the rigorous testing it underwent.
I feel like if CCP used this method, there would be far less bugs/glitches in this game. I know that the dev team does test the update, but a dev team by itself can not catch every single bug, even if they tried. This is why there needs to be a testing server that goes online prior to the scheduled release of an update so that bugs and glitches will be minimized and hopefully extinguished.

Lt Royal wrote:CCP does have a test server for these needs called "Singularity" where everyone can access it, they release upcoming changes/updates to dev blogs and asks the community what they think on the forums, it then gets uploaded to the test server (testing usually lasts for 1-2 months) before going live to Tranquillity, but having a test server would require you to download a whole new client to access. But it would also require CCP to effectively pay Sony for another game, doubling the costs to run the game in its entirety.
I'm pretty sure CCP will implement this with NotLegion though. Yes, they won't have to get past Sony for having a test server.
Having testing done by members of the actual player base is honestly the best way to go, not only is it free to employ them, but the players of the game are more likely to find bugs and glitches than any other people out there.
