Bro, the overwhelming majority of players in here have 0 interest in playing anything competitively. If they did the game never would have had all the random spy alts trying to leech field strategies beforehand. It never would have had the use/abuse of mechanics glitches whether they were the melee, the shotgun dual round, the lav thing, uplinks in walls or towers etc. It never would have had the rush to "get the server" when a PC opened or the subsequent packet bombing of network connections to lag people. I mean just on and on. And sure, some of that we just took as "it is what it is" but in doing so what DUST could never really be after that is be accepted as a competitive shooter by the broader.competitive gaming community.
I feel your pain, since I basically hit the same glass wall after MGO3 (an ESL cash-money tournament title) opened and I was discussing it and its design with other players. Which is unfortunate since the organization and team coordination we used in here is exactly the sort of thing that MGO3 is largely built for, nevermind my other problems with the design of that game.

Personally I'm enjoying the **** out of The Division but it's an entirely different game when you're running romperstomper with 4-7 people vs soloing the DZ, especially when that soloing is through the upper sections of it where any enemy will 1HK at any point. The PvP I find fun too since so much of it IS grind-based and people very often (wrongly) assume that since you're solo their crew will handle you with ease. My build will help compensate for the numbers (1vX) but it's still skill in dictating the engagements successfully.
