What made DUST "competitive" was the social platform CCP provided to the DUST community. The draw that CCP was able to create was based off of the fact that you could create your own character, essentially remain yourself, and majorly affect the game by playing whatever part you chose to play. (Essentially we were all a tight knit extremely dysfunctional FAMILY.) The alliances you decided to make, friendships, they all mattered. The "not knowing what would amount from these friendships", whether the fallout would start a war or create something new and exciting, kept everyone on the edges of their seats. Let's not lie to ourselves! We all love drama to some degree!
I spent $60.00 on The Division myself, reached level 7 or 8, and then bailed. It's just farming. Pretty much every game that is out currently is soley farming. Although, I do enjoy Rainbow Six Siege!
Other than that, I enjoy doing other things in my free time. Video games aren't too exciting any more. Real life is fun. Not much to complain about! |

Which is a valid observation.
There are multiple things you could draw from this, none are mutually exclusive.
1. Dust "vets" prefer niche FPS games, and thus you don't see them in other titles
2. Dust "vets" are one trick ponies, who were only good at dust and not other games.
etc etc
At the end of the day, not much really matters. Top tier in dust was always a kind of misnomer with the small community. The smaller the pool (especially with large teams), the greater the deviation for the top tier.
The reason why you have not been seeing similar performance levels on other games is because DUST was a pretty simple FPS with a very small community in comparison to other video games of it's category.
Some of the vets I've spoken to have noted that Regnyum is amazing at DUST, easily one of the top players, but when playing COD (I think COD was the specific game mentioned by this person) Regnyum wasn't nearly at the same performance level compared to DUST.
That's just a great example and quote from one of the older well respected vets in the game. |

I biomassed all of my characters...
The only reason I even have this character is because I'm pretty sure someone else used my account to create it. |

What vets are you guys referring to? Cause the vets that i know that left the game are beasts in every game that I've seen them in. MAG, BF (any of em), PS2, etc. I can go on.....players just need to accept what is. What players left dust and are trash elsewhere? Name them...please
Aren't we all supposed to be playing video games to have fun anyways? |

Although I know many probably don't check these forums at this point, I thought I would have at least ran into people on other titles competing.
I understand your point dubbs on the cap being lower, but think about it....beta players had from, what does dustboard say, January 11th??? to neckbeard that cap weekly until Uprising (May something). That's nearly 6 months, amounting to roughly 5-6mil sp: an enormous gap between that and 500k.
Ghost hit it perfectly. Albeit we can all agree I wasn't anything special on Dust, I would love to see how my old rivals stack up now.
You successfully ran a corporation in DUST and lead your corporation pretty efficiently. I would say that is special in and of itself. Many of your corporation leaders and members look(ed) up to you.
You weren't a bad player either. |

Appreciate the compliment, whoever you are. Honestly, this is one guy I would have liked to see on level field....considering the insurmountable amount of sh!t he talked about/towards my organization when he was a member of the incumbent. Between us two, if this is indeed true, it explains alot....as it would with many others (again, reference Kaiser "one-trick pony"). Even some of my own friends who were DUST legends admit how badly they get rekt on rainbow. Don't mistake my competitive spirit for bitterness - it is simply comical too see how loud a rooster crows, when surrounded by mere hens. One cool takeaway from all this is the transfer over from DUST. Our team consists of 90% players from DUST (Kalash, Silver, Alias, MMG, Solar, Zstorm, DK), the remainder some old GB friends. Our name is a respectful nod to the trials and tribulations we all faced for 3 years - Working As Intended. Hopefully we can climb out of our current Bad News Bears status on the team ladder. As much BS as we all put up with from CCP, the bonds made are invaluable.
Believe me, I definitely know what you mean. Lots of people like to talk "trash"; let them. I have reformed back to my old ways of allowing other people to dig their own graves.
I like to stay out of the mix. |

I'm sure you've done just as bad, if not worse, in your DUST career. :3
Nothing to be ashamed of!
