Valkyrie was announced as a PS4 and PC title from the start.
It has no link to EVE Online and no cross-platform play.

EVR was originally just a tech demo for the Rift with no planned future, if you want to get technical.

There is a MASSIVE gulf of difference between "Being exclusive by contract" and "Being exclusive because no one else has come to the negotiating table yet."
It was exclusive with Oculus because Sony hadn't come to the table for Valkyrie yet.
This is kinda like people ranting about DUST PS3 exclusivity when there was no contract or deal to exclude any other interested party for their platforms were they to offer reasonable terms.

It is exclusive by contract to Oculus but that only applies to the PC as far as I know.
Sony was technically a loophole to that contract but if its there why not use it. More money for CCP is more money for CCP.
Hilmar kind of hinted at the jump from the start.

Clearly he already knew that Sony was planning on VR, while others did not, and used that to their advantage when structuring their deal with Oculus Rift.
Got to give CCP props on the whole thing. They knowingly structure an exclusivity deal that they can wiggle out of to get the company to assist in funding and development of the over all product and then take on a huge lump of VC cash to push it over the hill on both the original exclusive deal and on the other deal they signed on to after their exclusivity deal.

Honestly, I doubt CCP will ever again consider a console game that influences their other properties. No matter what they say about being proud of what they accomplished, there are almost certainly people at the higher levels over in Reykjavik who consider this game an embarrassment and a mistake they will never repeat.

I personally think it is some of the people at the upper levels in Reykjaik that are the mistakes... I think there is some major poison at the top of that hierarchy.
On the subject of the OP...
Its not likely to happen soon, more because its an FPS on VR than because of anything to do with CCP or anything else. Right now, VR is in its infancy as a mass market product, and the FPS genre has some unique issues that prevent an easy switch on the VR. I think that FPS will eventually get past the motion sickness that it often causes on VR, but it is going to take some time to iron out the issue.
That is the last thing CCP needs to worry about right now. If they don't make an EVE FPS that is successful, and create a second failure, it will bode very poorly for them. Especially if they do it because they are too scatter brained and trying to cram VR into a game that needed to get its bearings first, it will be just one more poor decision on a large list of poor decisions by the company.

You are likely correct. The sad thing is the failure was on their part for poor planning and even worse execution.
"Team True Grit" or whatever it was called that traveled back and forth from Iceland to Shanghai showed early on that they were repeating the mistakes that made WoD never see the light of day.

And contrary to Eve Valkyrie NotLegion was announced as an PC exclusive. And so far CCP always stuck with what they announced regarding platforms.

To some extent with Eve Valkyrie. But overall, when we look at Dust 514, Gunjack, and Eve Online, it's been pretty consistent regarding platforms.
But now it seems that Gunjack has been successful enough recently that CCP is thinking about bringing Gunjack to the Oculus Rift.

There were many instances of the exclusive announcement overstating the fact that it was exclusive on PC. What we will never know is if that was a calculated move on CCP's part or if Oculus was aware they would be going to PS4 as well.
I really can not see Oculus giving CCP time and money on the game only for CCP to take it to a competitors platform but that is purely speculation. |

Note of history for you. Dust 514 was never an 'exclusive' for the PS3.
No contract was signed to ensure it wouldn't appear on another console. Didn't need one because Microsoft wouldn't let CCP into their walled garden. It was exclusive to PS3 by default.
Exclusive is a word that's thrown around a lot in the gaming industry mainly by marketing peeps and as such 90% of the time contractually not valid.

The unfortunate fact remains that having the game support cross-platform play would ****** the update frequency on PC. Part of why Warframe has no cross-platform play is because of that.

Keep in mind that the hardware OTHER than the Oculus Rift cost way more than the Rift itself. If you think no one if investing that kind of money for any one game, or simulator in this case, in the comfort of their own home, think again. You will be amazed how much these people invest in such hardware. It's actual normal for them to go crazy on this stuff. No expense was spared.
