First of before I go on let me give you a little info. I started a few months before fanfest, I have been a dedicated heavy since day one and with the sp gain have speced into most. I have respeced alot and have tried everything to offer. I play this game because there is meaning behind it/beyond the game. Knowing that the races/factions are in eve and books etc is crazy to me. So let me give you a run through as an experienced gamer.
I'm going to explain what I want in terms of dust... best way to explain it.
Lets say im completely new to eve for this. So i start up the game dust 2.0 for the first time. After introduction to the game you come to create character.
So you have your choices... min, amar, gal, cal. Now remembering im completely new? I have no Idea what these races are. So let's bring in lore. 4 cinematic videos showing the meaning of the race. So let's say I click all of them and I like the amar race the most. But I still need to know what makes the amar different to the other races on the battlefield so I dive deeper. I click amar race... next thing to come up is roles, once again cinematic videos explaining each role.. however now we get a little more info.
So we have
Assault Logistics Scouts Commandos Sentinels
My playstyle in games has either been a healer or tank. So I'm intrigued by logistics and sentinels. However I wanna know what makes an amar logi special?? So instead of seeing a tonne of lore I just want to know what makes this logi different from the min logi. So by clicking info for amar logi it brings up the bonuses of this suit, layout etc... so I have just learnt that amar logis have a sidearm that all the other logis don't.. I also learn that I have a bonus to uplink timers and amount I can have active ar once. But I don't know what uplinks are? So each key items should be highlighted to give me the option to click it to tell me that - the uplink is a mobile spawning system. By highlighting certain words in the set up or in the game will help guide me.
Right so I have gone through the stages... 1. I choose my starting race & learnt races 2. I found my preferred role & have and understanding of what my races role is, so when I am the amar logi I know links are my main.
So now I enter the game... you get a welcome cinematic with amar this will obviously be for the pve side of things. So that's all done so what now? In this situation you're normal stuck because we'll what do you do?
So before you go anywhere youre *forced* to click skill tree. But the difference here is that it shows me where I am to go. So as I said I am an amar logi (want to be) It explains I need to be level 2 Dropship command.. etc etc... *the reason here is that many players just want to be the role first. Then do the buffs later. So, basically you give a "path" of everything they aquire. So skill points don't get wasted down the line.
In this game I'm hoping for tiered play.
So let's say im looking at my skills. You explain to me it is wise to devide sp between everything at the start that you look to acquire. So with my skills I get level 1 scrambler rifle, basic amar medium frame, basic uplinks etc etc... You then takee to isk, straight after... you explain isk is the currency in the game, you earn it in matchs. Each suit costs isk, the price determines on your gear. Basic suit could cost 10,000isk and proto could cost 300,000 isk. Explain that it is advised to save isk for player markets, and purchases stuff later available in the game.
Okay so now you take me to suit loadout
I make my suit... it states that it meets the requirements for basic tier.
I enter a tutorial match. This match is with bots of all roles, you're guided in a tutorial of all the gamemodes, to grasp an understanding earlier on of what to do and also strengthen your view on your specific role. After the match you explain briefly how the victory screen works in a way. (Sp gain, wp, isk payout)
Once you complete the tutorial you get put in your first basic tier match. You're told before hand that players may have a higher sp level then you but there is a set cap per tier.
After completing your 1st game you get a booster. Boosters are then explained to the player.
Second match you complete the daily mission which is play 2 games. You're rewarded 10 box's and then youre told on how these new items work. Then slowly introduce certain aspects of the game.
Unlike how most of us learnt... which was by making mistakes... which is common in real life? But shouldn't be in a video game

Oddly, so far as I am aware, the CPM is unanimous that the New Player Experience is a critical concern, and needs to not get handwaved off. So don't worry, we're paying attention. No doubt someone in the past has posted something, and possibly/no doubt they explained it alot better then I did.
The post was something I have ranted to friends alot and thought well... maybe if I throw out my view it'll give a better average and some new ideas.
It's great to hear that though! What's your view on strict faction warfare Breakin???? I was on my break at work the other day typing the post and after thought to myself along with ideas in the past and reading stuff.
Giving the player a set path, and requirement before they can play for a faction.
Example: to play as the amar in fw you need to get your amar logi and weapon etc to adv or proto. This would mean at the start faction warfare would be quiet but over time would build up in numbers. On that note something I hate is players playing for amar factional jumping about in min assaults with Mass drivers.. the complete opposite of the race. I'd like to see a strict faction verse faction fight.

Dropsuits and choice of equipment should never have a bearing on which empire you are able to fight for as it completely goes against the general premise of lore of factional warfare as well as stands to create massive imbalances between the populations of each militia based solely on what the meta is at any given time. Try to realise that in Faction Warfare you aren't actually representing the Empire you choose in an official capacity. You are hired as mercenaries by the militia entity and sanctioned to kill members of the enemy militia. This does not make you a member of the Empire you fight for, you are not a member of their military forces and so you have no obligation to employ equipment made by company aligned with that Empire. I understand what you're saying but when I talk to fellow players 95% of the fw players are so strict to a faction. As much as I said to include lore, you need to see it as something different from a pub! And by making it strict to faction would be it. A whole team of aMar vs a team of min would be insane. And give loyalist to the race more of a immersion. Going into a an amar faction and seeing both sides mainly being min ass is crap. Basically a pub with different rewards. It shouldn't be that to me
