I also feel like if that was the case they would not have emphasized that the so called new game is in early stages of development.

Given how FF 14 turned out, and perceptions of money grabbing just before it meant that CCP most likely decided not to continue sales out of caution, which automatically meant that there would be no more revenue to cover costs. Its possible there is an Alpha around that time, but I highly doubt it. Former CEO of the Land of the BIind. Any double entendre is unintended I assure you.
