I just played. I wasn't seriously wanting to play, just trying out a militia BPO fit using BPOs from my Gallente alt, and I just wanted to see how badly I sucked with a MLT AR.
Well, I did suck so bad I had to switch back to my Rasetsu to get any decent kills. But that's not the story. The story is that I came into the battle with it half over, never a good sign. Blue actually had the point, and I couldn't figure out why anyone would have left the battle at that point.
Then when it was announced that clone reserves were critical, I looked at the numbers. Blue was down to something like 5 and red had 101. They were just decimating us. They weren't even bothering trying to win back the point, they were just killing blues at such a rate that it wasn't even a contest.
This was a really blatant slaughter, made possible by CCP's mechanics of stacking all the squads on one team (is this what people mean when they say "qsinc"? Anyway, it was atrocious. If the game wasn't closing down I think I'd just tell everyone not to even bother with it. The people who squad and therefore always are on the stomper side think this is just great, I know, but to noobs and solos, it's just awful.
I'm only sticking around because I want to see how far I can take my skills in the short time left. If it weren't for that, I wouldn't even bother another day. |

As for the people that relish this sort of one-sided stomping, you should be ashamed of yourselves.
But I know you're not. I'll just be glad to be rid of you when the time comes. Hey, I feel you all to well on this subject. Several things have to be taken into account now. 1. Squads are now max of 4 players, so the impact of one good vet squad is less. My squad of 4 the other day achieved over 100 kills I alone had 52kills. We lost the match because the rest of our blues went negative. I recall one have over 26 deaths o.O and no kills. 2. The original match making is fair sometimes, however the vets are doing extremely odd stuff the attitude of "uh oh good team let's leave guys" so then you lose your main squad on your side. 3. I currently use the warlords suit, I killed 3 vets who was using officer in a dom yesterday. 5minutes later they're using thales in the redline. This is completely the wrong attitude and these players need to go to ambush (seriously) 4. Pc- I know i have gone into a game quite alot thesee days and will get a message saying, "pc jade we need you to fc" so I'll back out with my sqd 5. Disconnecting, dcs and this waiting for deployment crap. If my sqd deployed and 3 get in and 1 don't. We back out for them. There's more but you get the idea. As for q syncing, back in dmg we would set up a few squads and search ambush on the same server to verse eachother. I remember one time we got 14 dead man's game players on one team in ambush! Ridiculous honestly. 4 man squads work with and increasing player Base. However now that it's dropping it's not an effective situation. One squad can't win a dom. And that's if you're lucky to even have a squad. Oh and remember all vets are slayers these days, they throw cores like the crazy cat lady throws cats. So their equipment slot is nanohives. Which means one thing.... they rely on militia uplinks then wine because it's 15 seconds hahah. All good points. I have a few back for you.
Yes, all the vets are slayers. And they're all in pubs, instead of FW or PC where they should be. Of course, if matchmaking actually worked the way everyone says it should this wouldn't be a problem because noobs and solos (like me) wouldn't be teamed up against vets. But they are because matchmaking does NOT work that way.
Whatever the case, it's clear that many matches end up with a team of vet squads against a team of what's left after all the squads have left. For noobs and solos, that's just awful.
And yet people on the stomping side think that's just fine. I've been on the stomping side, purely by accident, and it's boring. The other team is redlined so fast, there's nothing left to do but wait for the end of the match, and try to pick off the odd stray that finds their way out of the redline.
As for matchmaking being "fair", no, it's not. I accept that it may have been once, but these days, no, it's not. If it were, I would have experienced about 50/50 matches won v lost. My skills alone can't be the reason I find myself on the losing team about 90% of the time. CCP is clearly teaming up all the squads on one team of a match first, and I can only imagine this is to allow squads of 4 to team up as if they were squads of up to 16. The fact that I'm sometimes on the winning team with all these squads is simply by accident.
You can go on thinking matchmaking is "fair", but it won't change the fact that it isn't. Thankfully, it's over in a few month's time. |

CLASSIFIED CLASSIFIED wrote:If CCP doesn't even make an effort to try to make matchs more balanced in Dust 2.0, then it isn't going to be worth playing. At least some of the stompers won't be able to go to PC. lol yeah that will be a small consolation. But like you, if they don't do something about this, I won't be bothering either. If I'm on the PC anyway, I might as well play EvE which doesn't have pretty much any of the flaws that Dust has, including the whole lobby shooter thing.
If there was one thing that CCP could do to improve Dust it would be to remove the concept of "matches" altogether. Battles should be spontaneous, starting because someone on the ground is defending their installation against someone that's attacking it. Then others join in as word spreads throughout EvE and mercs are tranported to the battleground by EvE pilots and the battle ensues, exactly the same way this happens in EvE. Then there would be no concept of "balance" of "matches" because whatever "balance" there was would be determined by the players who turned up for the fight.
And before anyone starts on about the idea that matches would be inherently unbalanced that way, yes, of course they would be, just like all real battles are. But unlike current Dust matches, they would be for real advantage in the EvE Universe.
Give me that or you can have your Dust 2.0. I'll go back to EvE. |

But I know you're not. I'll just be glad to be rid of you when the time comes. That's not even the worst I've seen. Well, it's definitely the worst I've seen. But it's all just a matter of degree isn't it? When one side can obliterate the other to the point they don't even need to try to hack the objective, it all just degenerates into an ambush, which is where these stomping guys should really be. There is actually another thread about people not playing ambush. I think they are just using all pubs for a default ambush match. Just like they're stomping in pubs instead of in FW. In short, they're not bothering anymore with the other game modes, they're just using pubs of any mode for ambush stomping. |

Thankfully, it's over in a few month's time. Matchmking isn't fair, why, because we don't have a huge enough playerbase to make it work. True, but the way CCP have implemented it, it becomes highly UNfair with smaller player base. Take for instance the situation of just four squads queuing for a match, and a bunch of bbs. If matchmaking actually was designed to produce even matches, you would get those four squads evenly spread between the two teams, two to a team and the rest padded with solos. What I see repeatedly, is one team with all the squads and the other without any. I'm so often on the losing side that this cannot be a matter of chance. If it were, then I would expect to be seeing 50/50 win/loss, regardless of my skill level. In reality it's far more than 50% loss. I can look at my wallet for confirmation. Sometimes it shows a whole list of "Contract payment for loss of a battle", with no wins. Yes, it's possible by pure chance to have this happen once in a while, not regularly. |
