Many of us enjoyed the high level of player interactivity Dust offered. I'm looking for your ideas on expanding what the game did well, and adding things that it should have had.
Examples:
- Voice Comms - Likely of reduced importance due to PC having a wealth of reliable third party options, but most of us have seen how well EVE comms work(not), and may like to see it handled differently.
- Player Channels/Chats - A simple thing, but many games get it wrong. Can it be improved?
- In-Game Mails - Likely to be much easier with a keyboard if implemented. Should it adopt EVE's mail features?
- Contacts System - Dust contacts were a mess, but they clearly were meant to be more.
- Forum Interactivity - The future of the forums is still TBD, but how would you change them if you could?
- Player Trading - Debatable whether this deserves a new topic, but give me what you've got.
Things that are related to interaction but deserve separate discussions:
Corp/Alliance Management - Contact Kevall Longstride/Dennie Fleetfoot on Skype/Discord/Slack and he'll talk your ear off.
Player Run Events - Much to be said, but the mechanics of how matches should be created is beyond the scope of this discussion.
Player "Spaces" - This would include things like communal stations or living areas. Way to theoretical for this thread.
This is not a complete list. Feel free to discuss features you believe are relevant.

I can't stress enough how the Contacts system needs polish. Keeping track of your friends and enemies is vital to a game with an emphasis on social activities. I should be able to assign contacts a status similar to Eve (enemy, neutral, friend or some such).
Corporations should be able to add corp contacts so leadership can identify hostile corps to all its members.
If two mercs mutually add each other as friendly contacts then they should get alerts when one another is online.

This is not a complete list. Feel free to discuss features you believe are relevant. Comms - The only thing I can think regarding this is how sometimes you knew the lag was bad when comms started to break up. Hopefully they will have some sort of robust system that can still be operable outside of gaming issues. I don't know if that is even a realistic possibility though.
Mail - Maybe just having a greater ability to organize them. I know having the ability to lock some particularly good hatemail, or being able to toss other important bits into a folder would have been a good option.
Contacts - Didn't really use this one myself, but I can imagine that it would be useful to have some sort of circles or other organizational type setting. Perhaps allowing notifications of some groups, but not others, like when they log on, finish a fight etc. Plus the ability to disable that for yourself, whether it be not allowing anyone to know when you are on, or blacklisting certain players.
Forums - One thing that would be MASSIVELY helpful for the forums is to limit alt interaction. It gets to be a bit much when people abuse the system. I have seen threads where it appears someone is talking to themselves, or asshats that start a thread under an alt because they are too scared to say such nonsense with their main.
- Private messaging would also be helpful on the forums. Sometimes I have needed to send info to someone, but had to wait until I got home to send an in game mail. Maybe its just me, but I would thing PMs would be useful.
Trading - I get the interest and fun of allowing scamming to be part of the game, but must it be so easy? I feel like that should still be part of it, but they should make them work harder. There should be some sort of mechanic that ensures that if you send someone an item, they don't receive it until payment is sent, or something similar. I would hate to see retention for the new game hampered by people who like to abuse and scam new players. F*ck those people. They ruin it for everyone.

Any double entendre is unintended I assure you.

If they are truly abandoned, as in not a single player left in them, I agree.
I don't think we should eliminate inactive or alt corps, as they still have a slight chance at producing content.
Ripley Riley wrote:A 'Last logged in' field would be amazing.
It would indeed. Eve has it, and it can be a handy tool for CEOs as well as other things.
Ripley Riley wrote:Something not mentioned above is Corporation Tools. Corporate hangars, more role functionality, ability to award medals, corporation-centric leaderboards, etc.
I felt that corp tools went hand in hand with management, but you're completely right; these are the sort of things we've asked for since forever.

I sympathize, and I know that Frame enjoys bringing the pain to those who attempt to escape the ban-hammer of justice.
BUT, alt culture is alive and well in the new eden universe, so I wouldn't expect it to go away.
Stricter requirements to post on forums however could be a welcome change.

It sure would. Keeping the interaction going out of game is one of the best ways to get people to come back into it.

Voice Coms
One of the best features of MAG was how it handle hierarchy in voice coms. Squad Leaders, Platoon Leaders, and OIC should be able to flip between 3 communication modes on the fly.
- Speak to Everyone in Squad
- Speak to all Leadership above and below them
- Speak to all players below their leadership position
Forums
Forums are basic at best. The new Valkyrie forums are a bit overly shiny if you ask me but would still work. At the very least a PM system for the forums would be very appropriate.
Player Trading
This should really be tied into a larger contract system. It works in EVE, no reason to really change it. Contracts allow for a more robust trading system that may not necessarily be items or gear. Plus it serves as a proper trade window instead of a trust based system like we currently have.
Player Groups
Ability to add players to certain groups for organization and communication. For example adding players to "Planetary Conquest" group and then being able to easily send mails to everyone in that group, rather than having to add names individually.
Corporation/Alliance Calendar
Calendar that events can be added to that will allow corp/alliance leaders to invite players/group to that will automatically remind them of upcoming events. Allow players the RSVP to the events. This would be invaluable for corporate/alliance leaders in better organizing when events will take place and keeping track of who will be there.
Message of the Day
No brainier. Allow corp leaders to write messages that show up on a player's main feed when they first log on.

Proximity Voice and Leader Comms, make it work similar to Project Reality. Can speak to players in local area, squad voice is always available, and squad leaders can speak to other squads by holding a special key.

It would be nice to some type of Goggle translate built into the game.I local in Eve i have to copy and paste to google translate to see what everyone is talking about. Then i type my reply translating to their language ,this takes time and is a complicated process that if built into the game would make it more enjoyable for all. |

That's more like it!
I have no idea how difficult it would be to implement such a feature, but it would definitely help player communication.
Thanks

I want the next FPS in New Eden to have many of the same social organization tools of EVE online. Specifically, I would like the systems set up in a way that modifying one modifies the other so that it is easy to work on both systems and help all players of both games without having to split off development teams to work on near mirror features.
1) Player notes. This is something we have in EVE and it allows a person to set notes on a per character basis to remember things about others.
2) Player Bios, usually used to say something about yourself it has come to a point in EVE where it is less about RP and more about certain information they believe others should know.
3) Mailing lists: The ability to easily set up large groups [out side of just -all to corp- or -all to alliance-] that allows the creation of communities outside those organizations.
4) In battle auto-communication: This would be the only FPS specific part that I feel is needed. When certain events trigger your player can be set to automatically send some sort of information to another player to communicate something. As an example a merc identifying that they have low ammo when somebody with a nano-hive comes within range of them. Or an ammo symbol above their heads.
Player communication is more than just text or speech but can also be images, pings, or other cues that give information without the player having to take extra effort to make them happen. This is critical in FPS games where the pace of action can be quick and having to take time to transmit certain critical information could prove too slow or too distracting. In battle info quips can prove invaluable in both convenience and information density allowing players to focus communication on only things that matter.
Also, I would suggest if you do use voice lines you have some AURA-like voice informing you rather than trying to "give" our Mercs their own voices. [immersion and all that]
