For a game I've played this many hours, it should be on my top 10 list of best games of all time. But it just barely gets edged out of that 10th spot by a game that was handled better by its devs.
In fact I don't think any F2P game can ever hold a candle to the best games.
When I dropped $150 on this game I saw a lot of potential. I hoped I would see better things from CCP in the future. It has its drawbacks but the whole experience is definitely very good.
However, that doesn't excuse the fact they tried to treat PS3 like it was a permanent platform like they do with Eve on PC. It was a wise business strategy because of the shooter crowd that stayed behind this gen and skipped PS4, but in the end, better things could've been done.
In fact, much of the time I spent playing this game, it was unbalanced as all hell. CCP didn't really know how to be a shooter dev until a long, long way in. When they finally figured it out, the game was still just a shell of what it always was - a game where someone who uses vehicles can hardly get by on ISK, where flaws in design punish the player instead of rewarding them.
When CCP finally figured out what they were doing the end result was definitely enjoyable. They just need to bring their A-game for the sequel. |

Last year, when they just introduced the new maps, was the most balanced state this game has ever been in.
Right before they started complaining about rail rifles and myofibrils, actually...
