Going for the gold

My TV has only one HDMI port, and I use my PC and my PS3 on this TV, so every time I want to switch, I have to unplug the cable from the PC and put it in the PS3 and vice versa. It's not really a nuisance, I'm not bothered with it.
BUT THERE'S A TWIST
Every time I pull the cable out and put it back in, it gets damaged! Yeah! So now, after throwing one cable away and buying a brand new one because of this, the brand new one is causing me problems aswell!
This is one of the reasons I'm no longer playing Dust, or any PS3 games.
I'm sure you wanna know what the problem is... Well, as the cable gets more and more damaged, the frequency of the screen disappearing for 1.5 seconds increases. This didn't happen when the cable was brand new, so I know it's the cable's fault.
HDMI cables are gold plated apparently, but the gold just gets scratched away and all is left is the metal below it, which apparently isn't such a good conductor of signal, so both the picture and the sound disappear for 1.5 seconds.
Just felt like I had to share this with y'all, perhaps some of you have a solution to this, apart from just not pulling the cable in and out all the time.
If you've read through all this and can't help, sorry for wasting your time. By the way though, this is probably one of the longest posts I posted lol, and I'm not so good at making long posts, so, yay me! \o/

Use composite mate. It's not that bad and you get less input lag for even more accuracy and you can have your CPU in HD and PS3 on composite

But my VGA output on my PC is not connected to anything within the PC so only the HDMI output works.

Got a new HD tv long ago and it "doesn't"
Also tested a whole bunch of others. They do have some it's just so little it's not noticeable.

It's a bit of scam really.... Gold looks nice, but in truth it doesn't really do much... A cheap hdmi cable will do the job just as well...

I use one of these cheap pieces of **** to connect my PC, ps3, and occasionally some third thing to the HDMI input on my monitor
Easy to use, doesn't require the 5v power adapter as long as the hdmi device supplies power, automatically switches input when a device turns on/off
I've had it for a year with no problems, your mileage may vary because, again, it is a cheap piece of ****

HDMI is digital, you pretty much get either a perfect picture and sound or no picture at all, so definitely order the cheapest cables you can find online
Don't ever spend $20+ on a cable that cost at most $0.20 to make at a retail store |

Bruh. I have an Xbox that I take ever weekend to a friends house where we play games on the weekend and let me tell you this. Your TV,is breaking your HDMI cable. Because the HDMI that I use for my Xbox is around 4 or more years old already and is constantly plugged into different things. No problems at all.
Either you're using way too much force to unplug your cable or you must be buying crappily made cables or something.

It's not the TV, I only plugged the cable out of the TV once, I kept plugging it in and out of the PS3 and my PC, that's what damaged it.
Maybe it really is a cheap cable's fault... I dunno. It's fine as long as I leave them alone.

It is. I'm sorry about the 1 HDMI input on the TV. The post earlier about hooking the PS3 up with composite cable was spot-on, though. If you aren't already playing Dust on SD then you are fu-óking up. Dust can't run on HD without severe gun-game-crippling frame drops. The reduced input lag from the low-res analog signal is extremely noticeable.

I'd buy a TV that has more than one hdmi port or just use the vga on the motherboard/graphics card. If the vga isn't working then you need to probably enable the on-board graphics, if it is the motherboard that has it of course.
