Simple enough really.
Although this year the darling of the show is undoubtably going to be Valkyrie, there are usually plenty enough Eve players that also play Dust that are there as well.
So if you are already booked to go or almost certainly going to go, let yourself be known here.
With the news that Dust is going to PC they'll be quite a few Eve players as well that'll be expressing an interest in the game (finally.... bit late to the party but lets just embrace the fact you showed up at all), so it'll be good for any Dust Vets going to let themselves be known and answer any questions for them.
So Yeah I'm obviously going.

I know many things.
But one thing I do know that Dust 2.0's presence at Fanfest will be very low key. Valkyrie will be the star of the show with it only being out a month at that point.
I'm just wanting to get a sense of the numbers so that we can all maybe meet up during the three days.

I had the odds of Kevall Longstride attending fan fest pegged at 98%.
I will be watching the feeds from my desk here in Nova Scotia. Please post on the forums when you can.
This time DUST players attended will know what is happening to DUST ahead of time, so all the supersizes should be good ones. They have been working on this new game for, what?, about 21 months?, since they scrapped Legion and started over, so at the very least we should get a live demo.

I went before I was a Dust player when I was a Eve player mainly. But really enjoy it while there regardless. Love Reykjavik. It's one of those places where you visit and with 48hrs of arriving you're looking at house prices and rental costs.

I would personally still go to fanfest.
It would be awesome to see Iceland and just see everything that CCP puts on for the show. It basically is one big show weekend.
Just learn from the previous dusties and don't go in with any expectations, everything is a surprise and interesting.

Other than the Fanfest itself, there are a couple of other events that if its your first visit to Iceland you should go to with your fellow New Eden Citizens.
The Golden Circle tour where you see some of the natural sights of Iceland and the Blue Lagoon hangover trip on the Sunday. And the pub crawl. You have to do the pub crawl.

a pub crawl is when a group of people try to visit a number of different bars/pubs and in my experience at least 1 drink is required to be consumed at each location.
from what i've read you get a dev or two in the group, i'm not sure which of them are doing it this year.

Not like how many people who play Dust Will show up will even matter at Fanfest. It's just like the year before when the community shot us in the back with Legion announcement. There's no point in representing a Dead game, especially when the Developers and the company as a whole don't know what the hell to do with it half the time.

going to fanfest as a eve player is one thing.
living in iceland is one thing.
Flying all the way to iceland as a Dust merc to see your game die, for a future none of your console bros will join in, to be pitied by capsuleers, to be the few focal points of all the crap ccp have dished out over the years ( inb4 its a free game bro, what did you expect after investing money and time it, maybe for it to work?)
thats just sad.
i have hardly been logging in not because the game is garbage in current state. the game has always been garbage but there was hope, now its never going to be fixed and its going to die garbage. to fly out there to support this? insanity, friend.

I could think of about a thousand ways to better spend that money, but that's me. I'll watch the highlights online after if they're worth anything, I'm guessing we'll just have a small tech demo and some vague promises about the premise of the next DUST game.
Have fun if you go, make sure to get your moneys worth.

This is very true.
Nearly all the Dev's go on the crawl and despite what the naysayers might say the Dust group is always full and have a lot of fun. There is going to be a focus on Valkyrie obviously this year but there is still going to be other things to do if last year is anything to go by.
The CCP Atlanta office is now the VR 'Shunkworks' for the company and there was a number of really cutting edge demo's of the tech. If you had even a passing interest is game design in any way, there are a number of round tables. presentations and demonstrations about the backroom stuff that makes a game. Most is New Eden and Eve orientated of course but its still fascinating. One of my favourites is the sound design round table being something of a gaming audiophile myself.
The Dev's are also very open, willing to talk to the players and are hungry for feedback.
Also even though not of the CPM got to go last year, we got a ton of discussion and stuff sorted with Rattati, Frame and Rouge so I was always busy.
More details of Dust 2.0 will be shared and the Dev's making it will be there for you to give feedback about it. I don't know what Frame is cooking for Fanfest but he's busy doing it and I'm looking forward to seeing the results.
But obviously it's up to you guys to go or not. I'll be updating you as much as I can via the forums and social media. But even if you just go because you've wanted to visit Iceland you'll still have fun and be surrounded by like minded gamers who essentially take over the most northern capital in the world over for a week.

Yup even seeing cops walking around with fire arms in public is quite shocking to someone from New Zealand. Yeah we see the odd officer with an automatic rifles from time to time as certain gang related crime sceens but that isn't exactly common or as intimidating as the common handgun.

Not really sure for the rest of europe, but in Italy it would also be quite shocking: policemen, carabinieri, guardia di finanza etc. must all have their handguns into the holster, the magazine must not be in the handgun and the safety catch must be on. Also police forces cannot, for any reason, shoot unless there's someone already shooting at them, meaning that they can't even point a gun at you if you don't have a gun in hands.
Oh, one thing might be curious: there are many things that are considered cold weapons (which are illegal, btw):even a swiss knife with a blade longer than x centimeters (actually I can't remember how many )or even a baseball bat might, for example, be considered a "strumento atto a offendere". Even the pepper spray is illegal if it exceed 20 ml of pepper oil .
