The damage is high, which is good but by the time it charges up and fires, the target has moved, so I have to precharge it and hope that I can keep track of the target while it completes to fire. And then I have to wait what feels like an abysmal time for it to cycle and decide to charge again. I've thought there might be some network lag problem, since I've seen vids that show people using the bolt pistol without any such cycling time, just the charge up. Unless of course, those vids are from pre-nerf.
These days, I just put a Militia Magsec SMG Blueprint on any suit that I need a good sidearm on, so that's my vote. |

It's like an ARR in your pocket... Especially at prof 5. Hits out to 50m, too... Great sidearm.
The reason why I consider it best is because it works so well, especially as a sidearm. Yes, it is really a superior weapon.
Especially the Kaalakiota - wow, what a gun. |

Moochie Cricket wrote:Rail Rifle Range>All Yes, the RR is pretty good, and range is just unsurpassable, other than with the SR.
BUT...
I find it very hard to use at close range. Hipfiring is really ridiculous, with it kicking all over the place. On the Caldari standard suits, it's teamed with the bolt pistol which is almost more useless. Makes me think that CCP has something against Caldari!
Anyway, I find if I put a Magsec on the suit with a RR I can cover all ranges without too much trouble. |

For most people, using a RR with ADS is almost like sniping. |

The reason why I consider it best is because it works so well, especially as a sidearm. Yeah I considered it recently, mainly for a shotty scout sidearm. Then I realized scrambler pistol has the lowest fitting requirements of any sidearm in the game and decided not to bother. But, magsec does have the second lowest. Maybe if I get enough SP today from double boosting I'll give it another chance at glory. Believe me you won't regret it. Get it prof to level 5 and get into the Kaala and you'll be amazed. |

If you know, you know. If not, you're still a noob to me. You mean when it was more effective than a Freedom Mass Driver and literally every scrub would use it just as they use the Plasma Cannon now? Also for me; any Militia weapon because they give you a higher chance for salty teared messages. Oh yeah.
Most people don't get that the Militia versions of any proto weapon are only 10% less powerful, and if you can shoot them just that little big longer, it will kill just as effectively.
I have a Gallente alt with a Raven Scout and all militia fittings, a militia AR and a militia Magsec. Just amazing what that combo can do. |

I've thought there might be some network lag problem, since I've seen vids that show people using the bolt pistol without any such cycling time, just the charge up. Unless of course, those vids are from pre-nerf. In my noob days, I didn't know how rail weaponry worked. I though that large railguns had to be spooled for every shot. So there I was releasing the trigger every time I fired. You might be experiencing the same problem; just hold down the trigger on the bolt pistol and it will go full auto after spooling. No I get that. I thought the same initially, because it would fire and then go dead. Turns out I just had to keep my finger on the trigger and it would wake up again. The problem is there's a lag - I don't mean the charge time, an actual lag between the thing firing and it starting to charge again. The charge time is something like .5s, so it should fire at a rate something like twice a second or 120 per minute, but no, I'm lucky if I get 60 per minute, and that's full auto.
I've thought perhaps it might have something to do with network lag, since I'm in Australia and quite a distance from any server. The closest one is probably the Asian server but it's usually quiet as a mouse and I have to connect to either Europe or America to get a battle. I haven't noticed a difference in the lag between those two servers, but the network distance to them is probably roughly the same in any case.
What I think might be happening is if there is some sort of delay built into it, some sort of feedback loop involving messaging from the battle server that could be causing it to wait until it receives the OK signal, that would explain the lag. Why they would put something like that into the mechanics I don't know.
Another possibility is that it's just part of the nerf of the bolt pistol I keep hearing about. Does anyone else experience a lag when the thing's firing full auto? If I fire it manually, it charges and fires immediately. It's only if I'm using it on auto that there's a lag. |

no i decided gallente is superior It is. I decided that myself with an alt that only has less than half the SP this alt does but is far better in CQC. It's both the armour and the AR, I've decided. Both are superior for CQC. |
