Dude, the writing was on the walls since Fanfest 2014. That Rouge Wedding should have told you something. Even in Fanfest 2015 when it was pointed out that Dust was making progress, the devs made it clear that the PS3 version of Dust was eventually going to come to an end by planning for the future. Then there was the lack of any promotional messages on the NPC marketplace for several months already plus the 6-month long silence. If that didn't give you enough clues as the inevitable end of Dust, I don't know what can.
Even if CCP told you earlier, people would flip out even more because then it will be exactly like the Rouge Wedding in 2014 when CCP Rouge announced Project Legion on the PC just a day after the end of the omega booster sales that was going on. Or at least I think it was Omega Boosters. People felt robbed back then. If CCP Frame made the announcement of Dust 514 shutting down on May 30th this year 6 months ago when SKIN sales were popular, then people would feel FAR MORE CHEATED than how you feel right now.

Even if CCP were to have chosen to quietly disable the PlayStation Store within their game months before the "end of Dust" announcement, people like you and me would have caught on within a matter of 2 weeks (maybe less) and automatically assume that the game will be shutting down with CCP making such an announcement "soon(TM)". Do not underestimate our crystal balls.

Do not underestimate our crystal balls. I would say they timed what they did quite well. Shutting off the store and making the announcement many months in advance was just fine. What they did wrong in my book was hyping 1.3 up as the grand savior of the game and then promptly going oops it's not coming out and we are killing the game. This seems to have happened because of internal scheduling and despite best attempts Rattati just could not hit the deadline for 1.3 having to be out so that all work could switch to the new game. This is probably for the better since it seems that all team members would have been gone to the new game leaving us to toy about in a likely mess of bugs for the final months with no one around to fix them.
I can't fault CCP for hyping up 1.3 given that they were on a roll during the latter half of the previous year. CCP Rattati and the rest of his team accomplished so much so quickly with so little resources that I wouldn't blame them for feeling confident about seriously putting together 1.3 only to later realize that it's no longer practical or possible for them since they now have to produce a brand new version of Dust called "New Eden FPS for PC". They must have felt embarrassed thinking that they have let us down.
