There is no gaming benefit between an i5 and a i7 that is worth the usual stupid price difference.
While the beauty of PC gaming is in its scalability, in that you can game on that i3 and 750 ti, saying there is no benefit to better hardware is completely and totally wrong. Period. You are wrong. You are so wrong it makes my head hurt.

See how with the same graphics card, same resolution, same RAM, same settings, the i5 and i7 perform leaps and bounds ahead of the i3 in the majority of games in the 2nd chart?
There is no need to spread misinformation in order bash more expensive hardware because you use low end to midrange gear. There is nothing wrong with using low end or midrange gear. Saying there's no benefit to kit better than what you have so you feel better about not having top of the line kit, however, is silly. And factually incorrect. Stahp. |

It might but the i7 alone cost the price that you could build a fully built pc with an i3 and for what? 30 more fps in bf4? come on most people that play this game wont spend more than 500$ on a pc.
I played Dust. I built a PC that costs more than some people's cars. Saying that it's OK to spread misinformation because "most" people who play Dust won't spend more than $500 on a PC is stupid. Nor are you going to be building any PC using new (as in not used) parts for the cost of an i7 that will run any modern AAA title, because i7's cost <$400.
More misinformation and circlejerking. Again, there's nothing wrong with low end gear, but saying that there's no point in spending more - if you want to (this is the beauty of PC gaming right here) - because it's not really better is false, as I've demonstrated and could continue to demonstrate using any benchmark from any reputable tech website that exists, will exist, or has ever existed in the past.
Preaching that you can get into PC gaming for around the same price as a new console is good. Claiming that higher end gear is not better when it's a demonstrable fact that there are performance benefits is bad. If you want to argue on the OPINION that the performance increase is not worth the price increase, that is another thing, and is entirely SUBJECTIVE. It's also not why I'm here. |

I didnt say higher gear was not good. i just said that for dust514 playing on 2006 ps3s it would be better to buy low to midrange parts because that's the price bracket where you get the most out of your money. good for you if you got a pc that cost more than some people's cars lol but what matters is that you have fun and you make good use of it. Let's be honest in that video i was adressing to people that still play on ps3 come on now. who will build a pc with an i7 4690k and 2 gtx 980tis in sli just to play legion? If you want to go ahead but i didn't say nowhere that higher end gear was worthless i just said most people that play dust on ps3 should consider that build i posted for like 480$ for them to play legion and maybe discover other pretty cool games as well.
I didn't say anything about your video, mostly because I didn't watch it. My first post was to the other guy who said there's "no gaming benefit" to anything more than an i3, etc. Which is why I quoted him. I've been watching the PC threads around here since the announcement and was appalled by the bad advice and misinformation being thrown around and the circlejerk of people agreeing with it. |

Your an idiot, it was stated an i3 with 750ti is basically a ps4, it was also stated an i5 is all you need for high end gaming with a high end gpu, an i7 has minor benefit over an i5 in gaming that is not worth the extra money, snap. You sir, cleary know **** all. :)
Your definition of high end gaming is not the widely accepted definition of high end gaming. This is a fact. Your opinion on the performance being worth it is just that, your opinion. Spouting your opinion as the one universal truth to PC gaming is wrong. To complete the nonsense, you're calling someone who has forgotten more about PC's than you'll ever know an idiot because you're overly defensive about your low end hardware.
You are exactly the type of person the phrase "knows just enough to be dangerous" was coined to describe. |

u wot m8? An i3 and 950 is literally as low end as it gets. Are you going to pretend my statement about the cost of my PC wasn't in direct response to your statement that Dust players would never spend more than $500 on a PC? Really? I didn't just throw that out there, it was a fact to counter more of your nonsense.
You and your alt can have fun circlejerking each other in this thread over your $450 pcpartpicker build list with an $80 case and $45 worth of wholly unnecessary and obnoxiously loud corsair fans. I'm done arguing with nincompoops. Anyone looking for actual build advice, please see CatMerc's thread. |
