EVE is not DUST; it is not WoW. Sandbox = no real ready made content you can just jump into immediately and go all high speed rockstar. It really ends up being a second life that you have to push for days to make the smallest thing happen.
If DUST were checkers, EVE is chess (or worse, Monopoly). Oh, please!....
Go to nulsec. Join a nulsec Alliance corp and be prepared for constant wardecks. If you honestly think EvE is that boring, compared with Dust, you just haven't experienced it like I have.

Just check the in-game map for super clusters of NPC kills (preferable high-sec regions with L4 agents) and farm content/tears off the missionbears. http://evedarklord.blogspot.ca/2014/03/carebear-to-killer.html Did all that. It is fun for about five seconds. The rinse and repeat of anything in EVE does not yield much after three months. The best bet for fun with some kind of in world related context rather than just bored ganking is Red vs. Blue. They're a fun couple of corps that are permanently wardecced against each other for consentual PVP. Last I checked my characters are still in there too. Lol, it's been five years. Yes, this is a good start if you just want to experience PvP. But to really experience EvE you need to go to join a player corp and go to nulsec. :) |

If you honestly think EvE is that boring, compared with Dust, you just haven't experienced it like I have. Yes, I have. I've done that. It is long stretches of nothing because nobody really wants a fight or you are waiting for something to happen. They talk big on the forums, but no bite. That's why I like corps like Red vs. Blue. Everybody wants to fight and they even have additional wardecs going besides each other. That had been the best pvp, or any real activity since when I first started playing and we were being wardecced by merc corps. I usually do tackling and scouting because I love intercepters and I can be doing something when everybody else is sitting at the gate in a stalemate. The only thing I never did was join a FW corp. At the time FW just started and was a crap implementation. They apparently made it better just as I was on my way out.
The corp you join obviously has an effect on this. If you join a corp that's part of a big Alliance that's always in fights, none of what you wrote will be the case. I'm in a Provi corp and there's constant fleets and incursions from all sorts down there. Not hard to find a fight if you really want one.
Yes, from what I understand FW is really good, but unlike Dust, if you participate in FW you will wear yourself a KOS for your opposing faction, even after you leave your Militia. It will take ages to be allowed back in.
It can even be bad just running missions - my main EvE char is a Caldari Navy contractor - she can barely fly through Gallente space... |

I'm sure the farther I get into this the more attention I'll have to pay but right now I'm just mining away and buying ships and mods for them. In all a pretty good first impression. I did the free 2 week deal and I'm going to buy a 3 month for sure. If that goes well by the time that's up my B-Day will be around that time so if I like it I'm going for the year long deal. Thanks for the input and heads up on things. So you're AFK mining? Oh you're gonna be toast one day... ;) |
