Since the new game is being made from scratch, what would people think about there being Dust 1.0 gametypes (skirmish, dom, etc.) without the "legacy" limitations? We could have everything we originally wanted in Dust 1.0 on the 2.0 platform, like racial parity and whatnot.
Just a thought.

Everything we had in Dust (except the bugs and glitches ofc...) and MORE AND BETTER.
I want you to keep all the weapons in the new game, you said it was gonna be different? Well that's one thing about it I want to be the same.

That seems to be the implied intent since the Devs say much oif what was learned in dust will be used for this. |

Bigger maps... With that, a large portion of the problems I have with this game will be sorted.
1 well positioned aver will no longer be a viable counter to all vehicles... Therefore vehicles will have their role fighting over the open areas and actually being useful for transport purposes.
Also the glitchy redzone timer will be easy to avoid as you'll almost never need to go near it. |

I wouldn't mind seeing Skirmish 1.0 finally coming back.

Exactly. CCP Frame made that clear in the announcement.

Let's be honest for a moment: DUST doesn't actually have all that much stuff that isn't an obvious for a New Eden FPS or any 'class' based shooter.
* Skills? Obviously. Apparently, Valkyrie is going to have no skills that amount to "+5% health" and instead have give and take. The example from the roundtable was "If you want your missiles do be better, your guns are going to be worse and vice versa." Maybe the new game will go that method. * Equipment loss? Obviously.
* 4 Factions? No point in being New Eden without it. * Different dropsuits for each role? Indeed, though I would NOT be surprised if Commando totally went away in order to give the Assault more of a role.
* Vehicles? "Multi-layered combat" sounds too sexy a feature to ignore.
* Weapons? I actually see this as a chance for it to become more in depth. The weapons and dropsuits didn't exactly go well together. Long Range Caldari Assault gets a reload bonus? Close Range Gallente Assault gets a tighter spread, which is something you may not exactly want a pointblank range? Some bonuses are useful in combat (Minmatar-Amarr) while others aren't? Scrambler Rifles are a total joke without Amarr Assault while other weapons were fine without? It is a bloody mess.
* Meaningful connection between EVE and DUST 2.0? Honestly, I don't think this is so important for the success of the game IF it isn't used as a selling point. Sure, being able to attack districts is nice but EVE and DUST attract a totally different set of the market. EVE is much more of a social game while DUST is more of a second to second action game. Not saying one is better than the other but there is an inherent difference in the type of enjoyment you get in either game. The issue that can be created for people that play one or the other is potentially obnoxious. Even worse for the person that doesn't care about EVE's style of play is if the new DUST becomes rigidly structured like EVE.
But who the hell knows? All the speculation and hope we once had about "Where are the MTAC's?" or "What about this Power Core idea?" have been replaced with a different kind of speculation and hope.

Well, if CCP Frame is serious about learning from Dust and applying it to Eve: Phoenix (yes, I'm sticking with that name) then we can rest assured that the connection to Eve will likely be very low on the priority list since CCP wants to make a very stable and very replayable game first before moving on to establishing connections. The biggest mistake that CCP did with Dust on the PS3 was focusing too much on the Eve-Dust connection first while neglecting the client itself. This left CCP Rattati and Rouge in a very bad position which they took over development after CCP Jian.
But what Dust has that no other FPS ever had was a thriving economy.

The economy, however brief it was in Dust, was thriving and that is something I am confident CCP will bring over to Eve Phoenix on the PC. It got players to engage on many levels and spawned whole professions. It wasn't directly interacting with Eve Online's economy, but that didn't matter since it worked so well by itself. The only problem we had with the Dust economy was that we couldn't trade with everything.

Hard to believe it's being made from scratch if the suits use the same assets, weapons use the same assets, even map buildings use the same assets.
I'm looking forward to a Caldari Production Facility with a moving production belt.

Probably just the models. Rigging and coding them into the game is a different story though.
