The melee glitch that everyone hated Ariana for was really my fault. I used it consistently against AE and in front of EoN.. Dengru and red star figured out how to do it in part because of my actions and AE wanted it on their side because they saw how effective it was.
That problem was more my fault than Ari's... I didn't originate it, but I did it blatantly and effectively enough for people to take notice. Ari just weaponized it.

I've said this a few times but I'll say it again. I squaded with the twins (Annie and Calamity) and they taught me the glitch. I didn't have melee mods at the time but was still dropping 30 bombs in pubs with it. I taught dengru the glitch, though he managed to spec into melee damage mods before me. A while later zBroadway saw me in an NPC corp and recruited me into AE (he knew me from Arrogance). They were pleasantly surprised that they accidentally recruited their greatest trump card vs EoN, ironically an ex-EoN merc that got rejected from TP. The rest is bacon. As someone who fought both sides I can confirm the twins did it first they just weren't any good with it I wasn't going to throw them under the bus, but yeah, they pretty much did it first. |

CUSE TOWN333 wrote:I thought they were shotgun assaults not scouts. So that whole Min assault with a bons Skill of God Cheese can be traced back to them to lol They were running cal Logi with shotguns and melee mods. I think they started to mess around with min Logi at some point as well. Hell of a duo to squad with. Good dudes too. |

So that whole Min assault with a bons Skill of God Cheese can be traced back to them to lol Yeah min assault with a bons can definitely be traced back to them. The min assault is just a product of the assault suit buff. But the playstyle is originally the twins. I believe they started as scouts but then switched to logi/shotgun combo. Noone was using the shotgun like they were. Back then, with hit detection being fugged as it was, it wasn't the thing to do. The twins were the ones who showed it was deadly. Many of the beta's players played MAG. And in MAG, heavy suit/shotgun was the fit you would use if you were going to use a shotgun. Some guys thought they could do the same and used heavy or assault suits with shotguns. But that fit wasn't viable back then. The twins were one of the very few that were deadly with the shotgun and they were using speed fit/shotgun combinations. And it just took off from there. One have to remember that the twins were maintaining 8 & 9 K/D ratios with low hp/shotgun fits at the time where the game was the most competitive. Don't think anyone has matched that since. And I don't give a kitten what anyone say either :)...they were the beasts that the beasts were afraid of. Just look at the Imps vs STB&friends matches... So much chaos caused by them.
In my opinion, the shotgun was underpowered at that point in the game, but their playstyle was perfect. Using the shotgun, they certainly realized the limitations of hit detection in pre 1.4 uprising... They used that to get close enough to people to the point where it didn't really matter and they tooled on people. They inspired me to repurpose my mass driver into a shotgun... Same idea, except the hit detection was a lot more predictable after they fixed it(1.2?). It was very effective. The only thing a speed/ close range mass driver build feared at that point, was fused locus/flaylock spam and Kalante. After Hit detection/ auto aim fix, everyone was Kalante and Kalante was double Kalante :/.
Seriously, only person I ever ran on sight from was Kalante... And even then, I usually ended up with less than 20% total combined hit points. It helped that the other dudes that were that good were on my side, but when Kalante played mid-field, it was best not to bother. |

The only thing that stopped us was playing gayest finger for district attacks... That is it. The last of the opposisition were the best lockers. You don't think KEQ made it so far from skill, do you?
Also, I think the confusion with the shotgun twins stems from them playing assault in beta before the reset. They( like almost everyone else) realized that logis were superior upon release. Specifically the cal logi, but a good number of us realized that the cal Logi was too strong and was due for a nerf. When the release respec came, they half switched to min logi( if I recall). Dust is meta game. |
