Could I hook up my PC to the TV and have the TV mirror it while using a controller for the PC so it would almost be exactly the same as using a console, without the console?

Yup, that is how I play eve.
Wireless keyboard and mouse on my couch with a wide screen tv.
For Dust: Phoenix I will just have a wireless controller as well with me on the couch.

On a PC/TV typing this right now.
Question is whether or not they keep controller support.
This is a positive and endearing message brought to you by Himi.

Question is whether or not they keep controller support. Well, considering they had m/kb support (albeit bad) on a console game, it woudn't be to farfetch'd to think they would have controller support on a m/kb game.

It would be odd if they didn't, controller support is pretty well the norm now since the Steam Controller came out, even alot of small indie devs make sure it is in there for dumb little top down games.
Before that many were using XBOX controllers for the most part and a tiny minority even used PS3 controllers.
So it's been around for years now... it just boils down to the UI needed to run it vs how quick a bunch of hot keys on a keyboard could do the same thing.
If a keyboard mapping is allowed, then the controller users will be at a pretty nasty disadvantage.
Think of tossing an RE and detonating it with a controller or how quickly that could be done with two keystrokes.
Some games fkd that up, but many are aware of that problem... hopefully CCP has some birdies to whisper in their ear about that issue and the many others that differ for PC FPS vs Console FPS.

Don't think Sony's controllers are compatible with PCs, but there are programs that let you do this. I've used something called MotionInJoy before.

However, you can use motionjoy to "jail break" them. That doesn't always work though. Sometimes it will, sometimes it won't. Probably easier to just go buy a 10$ usb "gamepad" is what they call controllers for PC.
