They still have to completely rewrite the game (nobody wants to carry over the fcking legacy code baggage, well other than those that take advantage of the bugs), might as well make it on a platform that isn't going to be dead by the time they get half way through it. Don't get me wrong, I want it on a console too but I want it to have a solid foundation and a sturdy roof; after that well then we can worry about adding on to the house.
It was both infuriating and fun while it lasted.

There are several problems with bringing it to the PS4...
first of all, if the new project is ported to PS4, then it will be released for it when the PS4 is AT LEAST already 3 years old. Maybe even 4 or 5. Sound familiar? That was one of Dusts biggest problems. CCP went for PC, because the consoles hardware was limiting them too much. Might not be a problem at the beginning, but it will become one later on again. And with a multiplatform game CCP would need to accomodate the lowest common denominator. So the PS4 version would hold back the PC version.
Patches... patches are an extreme hassle on PS4. CCP wants to release a quick hotfix or a patch for a problem on PC? Oh, whatever. need to wait for the PS4 patch to be ready first, because the game must run with the same version on all platforms, due to the integration with Eve Online.
What do you do when the PS4s lifecycle ends? Port it to PS5? Will there even be a PS5? If there will be a PS5, is the next generation of consoles still the same like the current one? What hardware will it use? Will the hardware even be compatible with UE4? What will you do with all the PS4 players who don't want to switch? How long do you want to support the PS4 version? Wont fans be angry who switch from PS3 to PS4 now because of the game, when they have to switch again because the PS4 can't keep up with all the changes?
The new game will probably be build to last... the same like Eve Online. Actually even Dust was built to last, but obvious problems, mainly the old hardware of the PS3, were a problem for that. Eve Online is currently running for over 10 years. I think CCP wants to achieve the same with the new game. And I don't see the PS4 still being up to date in 10 years time. With all these Free2Play games being released currently, every single one of them being supported with endless content patches, the time is right for a game like this. And in my opinion games like these are not made for consoles. With a console you can deliver complete and finished games... but not games which are evolving over the course of years... because consoles themselves don't change. They are limited by the hardware on which the developers decided years before. Even years before the release of the console.

I encourage people to periodically remind CCP that they would like to play the game on a console as well.
CCP was well aware that some people would feel left behind. So was the CPM.
Nothing wrong with asking for an update, or showing continued interest in the future.
Letting the public expression of that desire die out completely won't help the cause.

I somewhat understand what's going on here ccp and Playstation ain't getting a long cause there slicing to much cheese off the block and ccp can't push the up dates without putting it threw Sony first I get it but for a high demand the dust 514 fan base is Sony Playstation I'm not saying eve players won't support but there are people out there that play that game only on there console and that's the only game they play with this game gone I probably won't play any games I got a ps4 I don't play cause I had a ps3 and it had dust and in my opinion dust is the best fps out right now it's just a little buggy as a Playstation gamer I'm disappointed they haven't already switched to ps4 ccp is making some really good games but all the what 25 thousand daily gamers if that tops seriously how may of them do you actually think are going to run out and buy a pc or try and use there parents pc to play this game new dust game that's not even dust any more I think they should just go threw with warlords say hey were switching to the ps4 and it's going to be the best game ever but I see why they don't want to because they want to up date and fix the stuff that's wrong with the game and Sony can't keep up its definitely something ccp wants out of or they want a better platform & no one has one the way they want so to control the game better there going solo but doing that they lose probably a good third of that daily player and those people are going to be sitting around there house asking themselves why they ever played the game in the first place and wondering what there going to do with all the new free time they have cause there favorite game is out of reach now
Just being honest I have over 75 games total ps3 and ps4 combined and the only one I play or look forward to playing is dust 514 |

a few months ago an article came out talking about PS4 being a platform that had the ability to become better with updates.
http://www.dualshockers.com/2015/10/22/sony-executive-weighs-in-on-the-possibility-of-a-future-release-of-a-ps4-with-improved-performance/
FTA:
Sony Executive Weighs in on the Possibility of a Future Release of a PS4 With Improved Performance
Normally, console generations are airtight compartments. Sporadic backwards compatibility aside, consoles are sold as-is, and then iterated with only minor changes like power consumption, size and so forth, without touching performance.
Nintendo actually did something rather new with the New Nintendo 3DS, providing a second iteration of the 3DS with slightly increased power.
During an interview on 4Gamer, Sony Computer Entertainment Senior Vice President Masayasu Ito was asked his take on the possibility of a future release of a PS4 console with improved performance.
Ito-san immediately clarified that he has nothing specific to announce, but the adoption of the X86 architecture, made performance improvements in due time possible. Yet, Ito-san continued, the real question is whether those improvements should be made or not.
With the PS3 architecture and the Cell, it was impossible to expand the machine beyond the capacity of the hard disk. On the other hand, with the PS4 adopting a conventional X86 architecture, itGÇÖs easy to achieve flexible performance enhancements while using the same game assets.
ThatGÇÖs why providing a standard performance version of the PS4 and a high performance version of the console side-by-side is, according to Ito-san, an idea that might be considered.
ItGÇÖs worth stressing on the fact that Ito-san was talking hypothetically, prompted by a specific question. So donGÇÖt go taking this as a confirmation a PS4.1 is actually in the works.
ItGÇÖll be interesting to see if home consoles manufacturers will consider this possibility in the future, but for now it remains within the realm of pure theory.
Source: 4Gamer
So, in theory they could run a long term project on the PS4.
Because beer, that's why.

I wouldn't even know eve on pc existed if it weren't for dust sounds like the marketing team needs to be calling shots on this one they might get a little better game play on pc but there going to lose money if ya ask me so they are going to need both to continue dust
pc vs ps4 ? $$$ vs no $$$
I think there going to definitely get a new game going but is it not better market wise to keep the console a common place for everyone to explore not just the pc game world because that's two total different markets |
