If it will be a fps I don't see why at least parts of my character cannot transfer. They should just tell us for sure, what will or will not transfer. If my character will die, i will sadly not be joining y'all on pc. I won't waste hundreds of $$$ to get it all taken away again

I am sure that character retrieval is one of their top priorities.

Many thanks and much respect to Rattati, Frame, Archie and the Shanghai team who inherited a broken Dust and made a tremendous effort to fix what they could. Likewise to our CPMs who laboured and fought the good fight on our behalf.
Dust 514 on PS3 was a crucible for all of us who were invested in New Eden and Dust 514. We all saw the stunning potential of the project, all felt the pain as we watched it slip away.....
It was an original venture and a big dream on which we collectively failed to execute. What we've been through is merely the price of an education in virtual universe design.
We've paid the honest toll for knowledge, time to move forward and reap the rewards.

It's more of an attack on CCP as a whole, the employees there of.
Rat's biggest contributions to the game were revenue driven. His balancing was based on one-sided subjective scopes.
But, with the 3 year ride that was this game; why would anyone ever trust CCP again?
1. They released the game into Uprising incomplete. It took over year to add in the content that made it somewhat fulfilled.
2. They punished players who didn't use AURUM by giving them disadvantages that were insurmountable.
3. They ignored bugs and glitches that were reported by the community.
4. They released the Warbarge Update, which was a pure revenue driven update, again incomplete
5. The warbarge was impossible to level up (What partially portion they did have completed) without the use of AURUM. With the game's end date, it is certainly impossible now.
6. Things like player trading were promised 3 years ago, and weren't put into the game until 8 months ago, and PARTIALLY completed.
7. They announced that DUST 514 was "laser focused" on the PS3, then the next year announced that all updates would halt in light of the "Legion" project, only to again have updates again, then to announce the game's final date. Puppeting the playerbase they claim to care about.
8. And, lastly, they pretend to care about the community, when all they do is try to sell, sell, sell, sell, sell, and sell. They actually have fooled 10,000s of players into thinking they care just so they can continue to sell.
What's the worst that could happen, lose?

The game was shut down because if it wasn't it would have died on PS3 anyway. They are currently working on a replacement that will basically be this game on a different engine, with the features that we could have only dreamed of, and on PC with a different name.

Actually there is A LOT about this game that should never see the light of day in the new one. This is not a port, it's an entirely new, different game.
But you are right, it's being shut down so CCP can focus on a game that actually has a future instead of just crawling to a slow death on a 9+ year old platform.

I can imagine your jobs can be fairly thankless, and while I disagreed with CCP more often than not (quite vocally at times), I would be lying if I said I didn't have fun. You won't ever hear me acknowledge that I feel like I got my $150.00 worth of fun out of Dust (pride is a fools fortress), but it is hypothetically possible that I could have acknowledged it just now.

I was pissed at first. But I support it. Something had to give.
I shall say I'll approach with caution. I dropped quite a bit of money on what was touted as a 10 year game. Everyone knew it wouldn't be remotely that long on the PS3. I hope the plans for Dust vets being rewarded are generous in nature. |
