It's not easy hearing your previous game getting shut down, it's like having your soul mate ripped away from you in a sense. I was hoping that this was an April fools joke but it wasn't April.
Since the game is shutting down I might as well reveal my name and how I got into this game. my name is Marque Cross II, MST graduate with a BS in Mechanical Engineering (2009-2015) currently working with GM as a validation engineer. My friend Shad and I played the crap out this game since 2011 back in Beta with the One armed Bandits. We made connections with this game and outside this game by getting to know people. It went from just talking about the game to talking about life and the things that happen in like, caring for one another. Example would be that my friend Her Nibs was going through a rough time and everyone in Gods did their best to keeps the spirits high for her. It paid off every time she cracked laugh.
I been there when Thale's was OP, when all we had was AR's and people complains about the Duvolle. To adding in more weapons only to complain about those. But we rose up and found ways to break the meta in ways we did not think it would happen. Hell I was still learning how to play the damn game .
The fight for Planetary Conquest when it first started. We made alliances, friends, acquaintances, enemies, frienemies, ans etc. But some of us loved every moment of it despite us raging about how bad the game state was. You know what we played through it. Hell even the wars such as the FEC vs EoN, I remember that one too well. Even though I was on the EoN. side, that war felt like a stalemate to me.
You going to remember the friends you made here in this game. The true ones that asked about you and life outside the game. The ones that were always trying to help you despite you not knowing them that well. I'm not afraid to say my mother end up getting breast cancer in 2012 with a 10% to live. I almost quit DUST514 and life all together at that point until Red star and others intervened with me about their worries. They reassured that she would be fine, they asked about how I was doing for half a year. They were right.
You are going to remember your outburst and laugh at them. Your goofy moments, dumb moments, derp moments, everything. Hell even your rage moments
You are going to remember how happy you were just to get enough skill points to do anything. Each little thing in this game was a victory even if you lost.
Community please remember not just the bad but the good in this game. We created the state of this game and CCP tried their best to fix and balance. Not may companies do that anymore (I'm looking at you Bungie and your PvP state). Take the experiences you had here, carry it to other games. Be a sherpa to others to games that may be similar to this game. Makes someone's day brighter.
IT'S BEEN ONE HELL OF A RIDE CCP, AND THE TIME AND MONEY SPENT IN THIS GAME I DO NOT CONSIDER WASTED. I HOPE WE CAN SEE LEGION OR SOMETHING SIMILAR TO DUST514 ON CONSOLES AFTER PC. ALL I CAN SAY NOW TO DUST514 IS IT HAD BEEN A RIDE BUT IT IS NOT TIME FOR YOU TO RIDE ON!
I'll miss you guys and the community. DJ grammer (I know it is spelled incorrectly lol) possibly signing off for the last time on DUST514 .
