Well, it adds up to a little over 35 euros a month, my entertainment related expenses always exceed that amount.
Assuming you have enough disposable income and can afford to spend that much on entertainment then don't beat yourself up over it.

For me I'm a hairs breadth from rank 13.
The crowd I ran with before dust have spent way more than me in alcohol related court fines and damaged cars.
Money spent on dust has been worth it for me cause I've had frikkin' fun night after night!

Just did my maths... I spent 677 euros since day 1.
Without counting roughly 3 bought / sold playstations...
But at least I had really great time, and Dust is still my favorite game forever. And I did not end up alcoholic. x)

$1200 build, including keyboard and mouse.. I think speakers too.. built 3 years ago and can still play modern games no problem. ~800 more put into it and to last a year longer? Easily doable. |

While 3k US is a big chunk of change to throw at something, over the course of 4 years it's no different than any other bad habit that requires almost the same amount of disposable income. If anything, those of us that spent very little in comparison should say thank you. Without dedicated folks like yourself, this game would have had the plug pulled long ago.
Now, if you're feeling generous with that stockpile of boosters and want to toss a few around, I won't decline!

your all talking 'build a PC' why? you can get Alienware console style gaming PC's and a lot of variation, my HP Evey 23 runs EvE full blast with a standard touch screen monitor. I paid less than -ú400 brand new. don't ask on here like your surrounded by tech support, use google or something. |

It makes me wonder.
If people some console players were more than willing to fork over that much cash in a free-to-play game, how come some of them keep bringing up the excuse that they can't afford to move over to the PC?

Only $480 USD spent. But... I have to agree I got every penny's worth from Dust. I think you guys did too. Anyone who disagrees is jealous they didn't get the same entertainment that you guys clearly did.

That's a pretty savage amount man i give you and OP a nod of admiration for your extravagance haha, i think the question is not should people feel bad for spending their money but what the hell did you guys actually buy? I dropped about 500 AUD on this game and had booster running almost non stop for about 3 years and owned almost every blueprint and both you guys spent about 6 times more than i did.
The one thing i never really bought were the AUR version of items so I'm guessing that's where the rest went? I stopped spending before skins and the warbarge came in so maybe that aswell? Meh I've still had more fun on this game than any other so any money on this game was well spent for me.

You found something you like, and supported it.
that amount of money aggregated over time, if you put 1700 in at once that would be questionable. but like 10, euros a week, its not so bad.

I guess as long as you enjoyed everything you bought that's fine !
If that money would've been wasted on booze and random stuffs it's probably well spent.

Every dollar I spent in dust saved me another hundred from going out and wasting time in bars/restaurants... and I probably didn't impair my health as a result. If you're on a lower professional salary and spread that cost over four years you're not going to find a cheaper hobby.
The game may be free to play, but its not free to run... so from those of us that supported your game while you whined about a lack of progress and refused to even chip the dealer... you're welcome for those 4 glorious years played on our backs.

That's how I justified it. I know for a fact I would've spent more going out. Not including travel, 4am walk of shame food, hospital bills for bar fights I know I would've gotten in to going out that much (straya).
No regrets

See it's weird, I don't drunk game, or stoned game.
So it was under my own power that I bought that much ****. I have boat loads of boosters.
I bought packs mainly, because it was 'technically' cheaper to get the packs and keep the BPO's for resale one day for isk, and keep the passive boosters.
It wasn't until a year ago or so I finally realised that 30 day boosters were a waste of time. But I was playing this game like 10-11 hours a day (I was 20 working part time and studying). So I basically lived for this dreadful game nearly everyday for 2 years so it made sense at the time.
So long answer short, it was elite packs and boosters. I also have 500 quafe ck.0 assault suits that AE received as a reward for the last team tourney they won, then CCP decided to sell them anyway. I to this day still won't use them. But in saying that I don't play dust anymore. Call it an addictive mindset either way. At one point I did love this game way too overbearingly much lol
