CCP has failed it's community, many times actually. That's why I and a lot of my friends stopped playing this game years ago because every patch it got worse and worse, once in awhile they take a step in the right direction, the next they take 2 steps back. If I remember correctly didn't CCP have a "x" year plan? Believe it was 5 or more? They showed that they had the full intent of making Dust a long term game however they drove off it's playerbase with horrible development.
Wasn't the wars over planets supposed to be the main attraction to the game? Because as I remember it, it was the laggiest match to play in and had very little rewards. Shouldn't there have been a reason to hold planets? But there really wasn't, many clans kept playing while ignoring the lagfest and had some fun. SOME FUN... Not enough, it was fine for awhile but good god how long can you play a game that plays as if it's in a never-ending beta? Who in their right mind wants to play a beta-like game for years when the next gen consoles are coming out and far more interesting games are following? At least a port to PS4 and a real nice update could've got some attention, but probably too little to late anyway.
And if it ever got better they clearly didn't make it good enough because still it's playerbase was dwindling.
Initially I was VERY excited for this game after having been playing EVE for years beforehand and being into shooter games. I knew how CCP took care of EVE and since they were going to make Dust integrated with EVE I thought that maybe they would show continuous support. Not the case.
There are so many things that this game could've excelled at but failed on such terrible levels.
I had a good time with this game and glad we all at least had the chance to play it, hell for a free game and all, but wow is it disappointing to hear that they gave up on it so easily. To be fair I did see it coming after awhile, it lost too much attraction and they took too long to "finish" the game (if they did).
Just imagine if they had held back on the release date and actually gave a fully done and polished game.
Back to wishing MAG 2 could happen.
