DARTH CARBON, please stop posting after drinking the CCP kool-aid! You are going to make me vomit with your company man assumptions and knowledge.
Members aka die hard Dust players, Before you go out and purchase or build a $500 - $2000 gaming PC for the game we love consider CCP's announcement credibe history and their company finances. So they are starting to build a game(not dust) from scratch without posting a completion date. Therefore, like legion it may never get completed. Also looking at the logistics of where(Shanghai,China) it is being worked on I can only imagine how the game will turn out compared to what players in the Americas(biggest player base) would like. CCP won't even commit to transferring your characters because they really don't know if the game will be completed or if it will allow such a transfer. CCP doesn't even post their financial statements on their website. In Iceland the public has to pay a fee to get a company's financial records but you would think a company that was proud of its products and future projected earnings would post it for everyone to see. Now also keep in mind that CCP is a privately owned company and not any stock exchange. It was reported that CCP did not payout company stock dividends to anyone in 2015. It doesn't sound like the decision not to go IPO worked out at all in 2015 for the employee private stock holders. The way CCP continues to operate or fund new projects is through revenue and loans from investors. So basically what that means is once an investor loan runs out(example: july 2016) they have to find a new investor or hope they get a renewal. Companies like EA, Activision Blizzard have billion dollar market caps because they are a public corporation on the stock market and as you know don't have issues making money or cool products for consoles. None of CCP's original founders are still at the company. Here is a link to CCP's latest finances and a spin on it from a blogger. http://marketsforisk.blogspot.co.uk/p/ccp-2014-financial-statements.html
I love this game but I am disgusted with CCP announcements and lack of credibility as a company. Nothing was committed to in writing in the original post from them at the top of this thread. It's just out with the old plan and in with the new plan and who knows if it will ever get properly funded and completed. At some point you would hope that someone at CCP would come up with a plan for a new console version of Dust that would certainly make them a ton of money and crush the existing arcade like FPS games. Console limits, certificates , sony, microsoft etc. are not valid excuses not to go to consoles if you worked harder to resolve those issues and followed through with valid plan statements.
CCP please feel free to correct my statements above it was only a few minutes of research before I came to my senses on a cpu purchase. However, with a history of posts and the holding back of your plans it doesn't take long to figure out we are possibly being snowed again. Thank you, Slade
