I am one of those rare players who studies the ins and outs of Dust 514. Recently started doing the same for eve, but that is a long work in progress. That being said I am a little unsure of a few things. I know 1.3 was supposed to drop shortly after logi ops, but didn't due to the xmas event. Seeing as it's still not been deployed, given an eta, or patch notes it leaves us all in the dark. Recently I have stumbled across news of Tranquility server hardware being upgraded to what is being referred to as Tranquility Tech 3. This new hardware shows vast improvements to the old hardware, but most the new info correlates to EVE. I am curious how this new hardware will effect Dust 514? Does it mean anything more then a better connection or less latency? I cant remember where I found it, but I came across newer high resolution images for Dust 514. Does that mean the new hardware will give us 1080p support finally? Im sure most my questions can't or wont be answered, but any feedback would be great. Im starting to speculate that the delay of 1.3 has something to do with upgrading Tranquility but I could be wrong. At the very least I would like to know how Tranquility Tech 3 hardware will be different for Dust from the old hardware. This info was presented for Eve so I dont see the problem with showing how it will apply to Dust 514. Congrats on the new hardware the specs make a dedicated merc like me wet themselves with excitement and drool all over. Hopefully I can get some answers and maybe it will help other mercs as well. Thanks, Your most fukn hated merc, Skitz |

I've been following anything available to follow as soon as it can be. From what I can glean, the hardware that holds dust will indeed see a significant upgrade during tech lll.
What that means to us as far as performance, I could not say. I do know that the timing feels right. If it was me I wouldn't bother dropping a massive software update before hardware is settled. Makes zero sense from a techies point of view. Chances are, software will have enough problems integrating on its own. Which will need work and a patch.
In the contract field we call that "giving yourself extra work.." Hence my patience. Frame confirmed 1.3, then eve had the tech lll blog. I did the math and skilled my patience to V.

Your neocom and restocking suits MAY load quicker. For someone who studies the ins and outs how do you not know this?
Also learn to paragraph. Most people won't even bother (rightfully) to read your post, unless you're Chinese or David Hasslehoff you should have no interest with walls. |

Im a techie myself, been that way since I was very young that's how I understand the jargon and what not. I fully agree that an update should be delayed when upgrading hardware or software for many reasons. The hardware mainly correlates to Eve which is the sad part, that's why I want to know exactly how it will apply to Dust not just vague speculation. The test videos of new hardware shown through vmware were amazing, but thats displaying things through computers capable of using the full potential of things. |

Believe it or not a port is not necessary. This game can be improved to an entirely new level beyond our wildest dreams if the development team wished to do so. If you wish to argue just look at other titles created for the ps3 that had fast loading, high res graphics and indepth gameplay. Personally I am not ready nor willing (as im sure many other players feel the same way for various reasons) to go shell out $300 or so to play one game if it's ported, as I have no other use of my current console. Aside from that ps4 still requires a monthly subscription to play online which kind of defeats the point of f2p.
If/when it is ported Dust 514 will most likely be an entirely different game altogether. However I wouldn't mind seeing ps3 support, Eve and a ported Dust merged into a single playing environment. I don't foresee a port anytime soon since ps3 is still in development and even next gen games are being made and/or released on it. Thats just my opinion. I honestly think if they port it now or too soon that they will have a huge loss of their playerbase. Afterall, it is alot easier and more cost effective to obtain a ps3 and current Dust in comparison to a ps4, the monthly subscription, plus ported version of Dust and thats assuming it stays free to play if or when its ported. |

Stands to reason, the corner of the old hardware we were stashed in, most likely wasn't optimized for the kind of connecting dust would need. Received a year and a half of maintenance from a group that was not too concerned with the games success. And probably suffered more during times of high eve stress. (No idea how much, only CCP knows for sure)
Looking at specs of new gear, I can safely say the operating load of one will not even bother the other. Some people have pointed to it just improving market/trading/chat/non battle interactions. Seems like lightening that load should affect overall client performance.
Two things I am 100% sure of: 1: TQ Tech lll will certainly not make our lives worse. 2: We will hear nothing of 1.3 until upgrade is complete.

Splitting support between the systems just holds the game back. Most of the games that look pretty and run smoothly are single player games, and if multiplayer, lack the THOUSANDS of processes going on every second between calculating everyones skill points in game and applying them to each piece of equipment that's being used and calculating resistances and bonus damages in real time.
I'm far from a techy but many who ARE consistently point to this as the primary reason DUST looks like it was made on a potato. The PS3 is a dieing system that's losing support from the company that created it.

Yup I agree with you on that. If the numbers (specs) of new hardware apply to Dust like they can or should then we should see more than some loading improvements. I cant remember if it was the first or 2nd TQ3 post I read but one explained how it would apply to overall connection, latency, and speed. In theory if not in actuality it should allow for faster loading, reduced lag, more fps, better graphics, more depth (if they chose to take that route) and less qqing on the forums since there should be less problems.
Maybe we'll even see more rapid updates and hotfixes since they can now apply them without interrupting our actual gameplay. |

Wrong. We have battle servers, our stats are sent to the battle server before the game, hence why you can't spend SP in battle/barge.

The amount of crap you've managed to fit into a sentence baffles.
Graphics (& FPS mostly) are client side (ps3) and have nothing to do with the server.
More Depth? The current Tranquility server could deal with another 10 AURbarges just fine, what are you talking about?

The biggest issue in that aspect is 720p vs 1080p. The game would be much different if it supported 1080p. Dust is still one of the most unique games ever made with its level of detail and complexity that it had back in beta. Now weve had updates and increased content making it even better. Like I said before PS3 is still being developed and games are still being developed for it. Lets just agree to disagree. I see your points maybe you see mine. If you have the money to afford a port then good for you. Alot of people don't. Enough said. |

Lol again you fail to read everything before posting. Like I said, the game could have supported 1080p or been more in depth already, but it wasn't. Now there is more potential to do so. As far as graphics and FPS is concerned it is mainly client side, but the game itself is played from mostly RAM of the system and the connection to the game server. So yes upgrading the modem that previously supported 4 million connections that now supports 24 million and as stated in the TQ3 dev posts improves connection. If this game was ran off a disc entirely then it would be a client specific issue, but since its the connection to a server frames will be lost with the latency and connection times. If you dont understand that I suggest you go read about basic networking. |

Thank you Devander. You said it best. It was just a discussion not a trolling cyberbully festival. I appreciate your feedback. Im waiting for the next tq3 blog eta late January, but still cant find it. I believe tq3 is finalized mid to end February. They already unpacked it, partially set it up, and somewhat tested it.
