My idea is to have a registry of ongoing battles on the surface of planets for eve players to look at. It shows whether the space above is contested, having someone from each faction, friendly, having your faction on it, hostile, under enemy control, or empty, having no FW ships. Players can see which fights need orbital support, and go to provide it where needed. They could also see where enemy ships are, and go get some kills, making the space exciting. Some sort of notification telling mercs of any changes in orbit would be cool, tying the universes a little closer together. Another possibility is to make it so that ships can both lock on at the same time, if there are 2 of other teams in orbit, so that people can drop more strikes, not less. Any criticisms or other ideas are welcome.

Orbital Bombardments provided by Eve Online players do NOT require war points to use. Just wait 3 minutes after the last bombardment.

I once took out a proto calass with nothing but a flux grenade and a scrambler pistol with my apex dragon scout. The guy got so pissed he dropped an orbital on me when i came up to his body to terminate it myself.
No more orbitals... please...
Edit: IT WAS A F'ING MAJOR LASER STRIKE

Edit: IT WAS A F'ING MAJOR LASER STRIKE He was not a team player, could have used that strike for a more constructive purpose, like clearing a point.

It's an idea but no one that'll get pilots to care. The simple truth is they don't give enough of a **** because we don't provide them with anything.

They do but that simply is not enough.
Firstly you have to consider that in order to drop orbitals they are required to spend 3 minutes or more orbiting a button overlooking the planetary district which makes you very vulnerable especially in hostile held systems.
Moreover since the act of Orbital Strikes does not directly gain you VP towards system conquest it it safer, more productive, and usually more enjoyable to orbital a Novice or Small Plex in system which afford you a few protections from enemies, comparable LP, and allows you to contribute to system control.
Moreover since Dust 514's FW system is chaotic and usually unpredictable with us not being able to select system and single victories determining control values (that subsequently affect the EVE side VP modifiers of the random system you deploy to) it's more reliable to ignore us completely.
EVE pilots can't rely on us, they can't co-ordinate with us, we frankly get in the way of their ops making life harder for them and not in the positive way people like to imagine.
We're a hindrance pure and simple.
If we are to contribute we need our own model to be more robust. We need to control where we deploy, when we deploy, and a model of control which requires more battles to be won or lost before planets are won or lost. We should try to offer our pilots real benefits from working with us.
Perhaps we could be deployed during a Hub Bash to sabotage the Infrastructure Hub's shield resistances by 5% across the board.
Perhaps we as Dusters can invest out LP back into systems we control to improve terrestrial infrastructure which in turn offers EVE pilots real bonuses or make it harder to take.
Perhaps in time we might provide meaningful content EVE players want to engage in and see as a way to advance their own agenda in FW rather than distastefully tacked on annoyances.
