The only weapons that can counter a red line sniper are a tanks, forge gun and another sniper. How is this fair to all the other play styles? If i run a scout with a shotgun what am i gonna do?
If there is a high level threat sniper a commander is not gonna say don't go after him because of some artificial line. If he is causing damage to his allies he will send someone after him.
The affected range on the average weapon is 80 meters and a sniper is around 400. so hiding 100 meters behind your red line sniping will make it nearly impossible to kill get killed.
A true sniper would be smart enough to move and be stealthy while having good aim.
CCP needs to address this issue. I have had enough of this dam exploit sense closed beta.
one of the definitions of an exploit: use (a situation or person) in an unfair or selfish way. You get in a throwaway dropship with no modules, a cheap suit with a shotgun, and fly that thing on top of him. If you miss landing on the sniper, hop out and use the shotgun.
You are right that he is technically using an exploit by taking advantage of the redline, and choosing to engage you in which you have to get to him unconventionally if you choose not to snipe, forge, or railgun shot him. You don't even need to kill the sniper. Just move out of his line of sight

tritan abbattere wrote:using a dropship and losing both the suit and drop ship for a chance to kill him does not seem right at all. same thing with running into the redline to lose your suit at a chance to shank him. The risk vrs reward will always favor the redline sniper. Then you counter snipe him if they are bothering you that much.
They're called counter tactics for a reason

Why is it fair that I need to switch to a prototype scanner, specifically using a gallente logi to scan 1 scout? Scouts exploit their dampening and need to be fixed so they can be scanned by every logi.
Why is it fair that I cannot escape from being warp scrambled in EVE, but I need to gimp my fit from my preferred play style to counter it?
A militia sniper rifle is available to everyone, if you're issue is specifically red line snipers, you already have his general location (The Redline, distance he killed you from, and his line of sight.) You've listed the methods of countering red line sniping, but are complaining because you cannot kill someone from long range, without using another long range weapon,
You're own analogy to EVE regarding a long range ship being able to be popped by short range ships only if they can close the distance is similar (not the same) as flying the dropship to kill the guy. You risk dying to the redline, but your reward is killing the sniper.
I really hope this is a troll post, because I fell for the bait hard. I am no longer replying, but as people said long ago.
