Are there any exported or fan-made models of DUST514 facilities, mercs, vehicles, etc.?
I'm also curious if there is any print, digital imagery, or video media beyond YT tutorials and voice-over game play.
Just wondering what players have done. I'm aware of Pokey's posts. Heh, I like the way that sounds. Pokey's Posts. You should make that a blog.

Hm. I guess to be clearer, I mean artistic projects such as Pokey's recent Phoenix posts; campaign media such as fan-based posters, brochures, sketches, or concept art; fan-made models or environments; homemade trailers; etc. Not really blogs or editorial posts. I did a cursory search at Biomassed and did not find what I was looking for other than snagged images direct from CCP's own material. Maybe I overlooked something?
Still looking though so if you have anything I'd love to know?
Thanks.
*EDIT* Soto: you're a trip ;)

Well one member of PCLAS once created an entire Dust 514 map in Unreal 3 and submitted it to CCP..... don't think it was ever used though.

I've been trying to get 3D models from DUST for a while in order to 3D print them. All efforts to rip assets directly from the DUST PKG files (CFW PS3's) failed so the only models available would be ones someone has made.
I'm looking at getting a rifle done soon for myself but other than that i've not seen anything else apart from some high-res renders for wallpapers
Please fix my C-II hitpoints!! Jesus and I love you :)

because the only available models are in the game or on CCPs hard drives. CCP haven't released the models and ripping them from the game isn't as easy as it was ripping EVE models.
To extract 3D models from a game you first need the actual game files, or on PC some programs actually 'screen capture' the whole scenes models and creates a kinda diarama you have to cut out. Anyways, back to the issues with PS3 games. You can get various programs that will rip models from the game disk.... DUST514 is a download only game. This is where PKG files come in, you need a PS3 running custome firmware (jailbroken) and you save dust to an external hard drive. You then need to unpack the PKG and then you could use an unreal tournament model ripper to extract the models.
The issue others have had is that when you try extract any assets from DUSTs unpacked PKG files it'll either crash the software or exports 64x64 images/thumbnails.
So your question of why not use what already exists... well, what exists isn't available (as i said in my original post)
As for person suggested learning to make 3D models, I'm tinkering with some 3D design programs but i'm far from creating anything as complex as a dropsuit or rifle. i did make a rather fetching shotgun shell in 3DS max a few months ago pmsl

That question was directed at apocalyptic, and was a bit tongue-in-cheek. I should have quoted I guess. He asked why not learn to make them, which I took to be a bit smart ass. I don't figure anything player-side exists, but it's a hell of a lot easier to find out before trying to model anything myself.
Also, I am genuinely interested in what players may be creating in all fields. Not just 3d. Which was sort of the overall point of my thread.

i've seen a few high res renders from time to time but thats about it one was an LAVs interior, other was a gallente medium frame and i think other was a flux grenade. Any other stuff appeared to use existing graphics from the dust website, remixed into new wallpaper/screensavers. SOme have re-edited trailers but thats pretty much about it
