Pretty much everyone knows what Phoenix represents but it's also a bird which implies flight. Pretend you don't know the things you do about EVE & DUST. If you seen EVE: Phoenix on a list of games, is an FPS the first thing that's going to pop into your mind or would it be some kind of aerial combat game that pops to mind? If you were looking for an FPS you'd probably check out EVE: Gunjack (if it were just a regular game instead of a VR one) before you'd check out EVE: Phoenix, just based on the names. This is an MMO before an FPS.

It's a fancy yahoo chat room. Jokes aside, I disagree, in my eyes FPS is the core of this game and it should be treated as an FPS above all else because without it we don't have a game. I disagree, MMO is the core of this game. FPS is just the style it resides in.

I personally agree that in Dust's current state that it is primarily a FPS, with MMO elements. I believe that this is an MMO with FPS elements. Like most MMOs it has a little background but everything after that is decided by THE PLAYERS. We make the history of this game, not some CCP dev who has nothing to do but type novels in his spare time. We make those novels.
FPS is the kind of gameplay we play in, we are an FPS also with RPG elements. I disagree with metalock because I believe that MMOs should not limit players. In other words there is no Lore reason to have metalocks. When we add something it should be based on lore as well as when we balance something.

Little background? Are you kidding me. Have you tried to read the History of the Amarr Empire. There are four EVElopedia pages of it from the pre-history through to the current era. Information of the continents is explained including the arrangement of Amarr Island, Assimia, Ves-Udor, Cas-Udor, and Kathis in the eastern hemisphere. That's one of four main factions..... four of however many total factions..... existing within 7000 actual systems many of which have their own histories both CCP created and player created. Bro, I've read all the EVE lore. I know probably about half as much as you do, which is a lot considering what you know.
But the player history is much richer in knowledge than the background will ever be.

I'm fairly certain anyone who thinks DUST is an MMO hasn't played an MMO Dust itself is not an MMO, the universe it is apart of makes it an MMO.

Let me put this topic in another light.
What keeps you playing Dust? The FPS aspect, or the MMO aspect?[/quote] Definitely MMO, I keep playing Dust because I know my actions affect a larger universe.

Best aspect of that whole trailer is that subtle overlay of the Amarr Assault trailing dust/ash over the subjects.
The transition from that the to Phoenix logo was quite lovely too.
Also, the music that plays during the credits is from the EVE Soundtrack "Glowing Red Dust". I thought it was clever. You got that from the ten year anniversary symphony recording didn't you?
