Been here since beta.
The state of the game then was yucky, now it's downright putrid.
I need help, please comment your belief below,
One of the lingering quierys that I have never been able to answer...
Is this game made by retards, or for retards, or both?

In comparison with many other games, it does appear quite poor. However, I think you have to compare it with other games by CCP, namely EvE, to be in any way comparing "like-for-like", and as such it stacks up extremely badly. I don't know what is the reason for this, the platform, the community, the level of commitment from CCP, who knows? But yeah, it's really bad. Addictive, but bad. |

The game was relatively fun in beta, closed beta as well from what I've seen, and while it was simple, at least it was enjoyable... Now, however? Too many glitches to be enjoyable, and too many playstyles have been knocked into the abyss. It's most likely at this point that CCP can't see the value in invest enough into Dust to make it good, and the current engine isn't helping the devs fix the issues that we've been suffering from. Unless it gets a port, we're not likely to see any real improvement, because there's no way they'd build a new engine for Dust just for the PS3.

Personally, i think we'd sometimes look back with rose colored glasses. Though i do miss the slow turn rate and TTK.
With all that said though, the question remains: is the OP an R-tard? Inquiring minds want to know!

This game is a success, made by geniuses.
They proved that a game didnt need to be good, or fun. It only needed to be addictive, and become a vessel for something more: Player made fun. We have made our own fun outta this garbage of a game; we have, against all odds, found joy when trolling others, when speaking with corp mates, when team killing shooting remotes in FW.
When I was doing the military service, the corporal in charge of our squad had to go to the capital for an operation on his knee.
With my service nearing its end, we didnt know if we would see each other again, and he told me this:
"Life is a lot like the military service: Its full of ****. And among the ****, there are little moments of joy, and those are moments that you have to treasure and keep." Well, Dust fits that description very well.

The game is made by underpaid and under appreciated programmers who can not even manage to garner enough support from the parent company to make it seem like the game is still actively worked on.
CCP Shanghai is FAR from the problem. CCP management has proven their ability time and time again that they can horribly screw up a project. They got lucky with Eve and not having any competition causing them to become seriously complacent with sub par deliveries to the point that they actually believe it to be proper.
