I feel the time has come for me to finally leave Dust 514. I wanted to give a fond farewell to everyone before we receive confirmation that we have been abandoned.
Dust 514 has a very special place in my heart and always will. I was a causal player of EVE but couldnGÇÖt dedicate a whole lot of time as I work full-time at a very demanding job. When CCP announced Dust, I was crazy excited.
Then tragedy struck. I was involved in an accident which required major surgery - I was out for months for recovery. During this time, they started open Beta. It was the only thing I could do during the recovery period. Dust 514 and the community helped me through one of the most difficult times in my life.
Since then, IGÇÖve been logging in daily (almost) to slay some dust bunnies. I was there for things like the murder taxi, melee glitch, the OP Laser Rifle of Chromosome, the nerf to iron sights soon after, paying for the UVT, GÇ£spawn-bushGÇ¥, and more. Remember when we could actually choose which battles to join?
CCP has always been unique as a developer as they actively engage their community and allow the players to provide insight and ideas to help build something great. That seems to be changing slightly and the Dust 514 community is the first to feel it. ItGÇÖs like parents that told you they are getting a divorce, and then they both move out, leaving the children to live in the remnants of the household they built together, but just pay the bills to keep water/electricity running.
As you can see, IGÇÖve never really been too active on the forums. I lurk every day though and will continue to do so. Even when 1.3 drops, I canGÇÖt continue. This next update will be welcomed with open arms from our community, but will fall short like the rest of the updates post GÇ£Rouge-weddingGÇ¥. I can no longer settle for band-aid updates. For now, IGÇÖll keep lurking while waiting for Legion or the announcement of whateverGÇÖs next.
