+1s for everybody.
I have never watched GoT either but I quickly found and agreed with the reference on that dark dark day.
If I recall correctly it did in fact start out as the Red Wedding until players at the event started referencing it as the Rouge Wedding in forums posts, tweets, and what not.

EDIT: Apparently HBO Now is doing a 30 day trial for new customers if anyone wants to binge watch GoT.
I did not plan on going past the 30 day trial of HBO Now but holy crap I feel like the video quality is beating netflix big time.
Going to stream 4k House of Cards side by side to compare.

Or they are simply too busy making stuff for the next update that everyone will most likely be offended by for one selfish reason or another of a million. But my experience has been the forums have always wanted an excuse to take to the streets with pitchforks. FF was a softball justification for the apes to sling their sh!t. And they seemed to enjoy their slinging.
Just MHO though.
Most gamers are not like hardened Eve vets that are simply use to CCP not delivering. They got away with blurting out ideas in Eve because of most people realizing that idea actually happening was 50% at best. CCP attempted to treat it like some Eve announcement and had it back fire horribly thanks to poor management of even that announcement.
CCP also learned a very hard lesson about having a third party handle your transactions. In Eve they use their own credit card processing giving them the ability to fight, and usually win, any charge backs.
Sony on the other hand only cares about them self. If even a hint of an argument against the company is present they will snatch the money back in a heartbeat because Sony does not technically have the ability to fight the charge backs due to a lack of evidence. Why would Sony give up time, money and reputation to fight for a publisher that has pissed off their players?
CCP remains silent because talking leads to lost money no matter what when your money is controlled by a third party that has no real vested interest in you but has plenty of vested interest in the players.

First the decision to build what they did in context of console life expectancy and general development familiarity, next the ****-poor thought process thinking the keynote would be a great way to introduce LEGION, and finally the player base tendency to react negatively to change (biter vet syndrome forum lurker).
I believe reactions were justified, but I'm not sure the level of vitriol was. I am not grouping the family (previously linked) into that as I feel his post was heartfelt and mature. That is something above the rabble noise of the forums. Too, I'm not really speaking as an EVE pilot. Just as the devil's advocate, I guess. Personally, I think it was short-sighted to target the PS3 to begin with, but I can respect the intent. So maybe I'm giving them credit where they may not deserve it. Too, I'm just annoyed with negativity in general, so I may be biased in that direction.
I think that's a fair point to make regarding Sony's role in a lot of this. Also, it does seem a wiser choice to move to PC for reasons Maken listed. Not that I'm advocating PC master race or anything ;)
I'm off topic I guess. Sorry if I'm derailing. Just rambling. I'll shut it now. CCP chose the PS3 because they wanted to try out the console market for once. They felt that sticking to the PC market only would not help them very much and they never did a first-person shooter before which explains its current state of affairs. But that was 3 years ago. Today, CCP has learned its lessons. Some of it unfortunately in the hard way. Many Eve Online players argued that CCP should have started on the PC first where they can have a more direct connection with the game client instead of relying on Sony as the middleman when it comes to sending out patches. This way it would mean Dust would have developed faster and be more stable and complete just in time for the PS4 release in which then CCP would have easily ported the game over to the new console.
Honestly I think if CCP had gone with PC Dust would have never made it off the ground. I say this because they never would have been forced off of Carbon to a real game engine.
If you don't believe that would have been a disaster hop on Eve and set your settings to max and then hop into the captain's quarters. This action is guaranteed to kick your fans into high gear.

I do remember CCP using the Carbon Architecture on the earliest known version of Dust 514 and that was on the PC. Or at least it looked like Carbon from first impressions. Judging from the early demo of the game years before Mordu's Private Trials, the game looked stable (although quirky in animation). Also, today's Captain's Quarters are more optimized than ever before which is a far cry from how they were on day 1 of the Eve Online: Incarna Expansion. My 10-year-old computer doesn't struggle anymore as long as I find the right balance in graphics and performance which is something that was never achievable back then on day 1. The problem back then is that the CQ was not properly optimized before Incarna and thus it was rushed. But still, Carbon is an in-house architecture of its own and I don't think CCP had future plans to use it on a FPS game if they had plans to move it over to the console after one day establishing the PC version. Using the Unreal Engine for the PC version would then make it easier to port it to the console especially in time for the PS4. And even if they use the Carbon engine, we don't know the current state of the engine now compared to back then. Dust likely started on Carbon back in 2009 and you can see how it looked back then. Dust 514 Demo Part 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ED-YF-v7WCwDust 514 Demo Part 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvDKbiUnxTA
Early beta was on Carbon and was roasting peoples PS3 so Sony said they can not publish the game. This is why the foundation of Dust is crap because it was a forced rush to UE3 with little input from any UE3 experts.
