In a fixed position, facing forward. The nose-mounted one it currently gets, and the two pintle-mounted guns that a standard dropship can mount either side of the vehicle, locked into a forward-firing position that is aligned to the nose-turrets's direction of fire.
Because:
-ADS cannot kill tanks for love nor money as they currently exist. They just don't pack enough punch. Allowing them to focus-fire three rails or missile launchers will make tankers pause for thought when considering to launch themselves across open terrain and butcher infantry.
-Balancing ADS can now be completely decoupled from how we balance AV vs Tanks. With that much firepower bolted onto something that can fly, we can justifiably balance them as gunships that behave like highly mobile glass-cannons.
-Blasters come back into fashion by dint of the fact that three of them all going off in the same direction + tight dispersion = actually effective straffing runs against infantry, something that we sorely need. (And I say this as a dedicated AV runner myself).
-It doesn't *sound* like a massive technical challenge. No new assets, no new skills or abilities, just...strap on some extra guns and point them forward?
-It will literally give ADS pilots +3000% more DAKKA-DAKKA-DAKKA. Which can only be a good thing for us all.
Idiot idea finished. Enjoy.

I like the idea but ONLY IF you don't allow missiles to be strapped on. 3 missiles hitting infantry at the same time repeatedly? HELL NO.

Sure, why not? Tank missile launchers fire in bursts of four and if they connect with infantry, infantry goes smoosh. You're thinking too narrowly about this; if they *can* instagib infantry in such a manner, what can we take away from them to give infantry a hard(ish) counter? HP would the obvious answer. A single swarm launcher can deny the airspace around its operator out 150m +, that's quite a potent counter. But if the pilot can sneak up on that trooper? Well played, +50wp hard-earned.

I guess I really dont understand why you would want fixed forward turrets over the current itteration. You can already engage a tank with three guns facing forward in the ADS, I do it all the time. |

If you can't kill or severely wound a tank with a single forward mounted rail then you're doing it severely wrong.
I'm the last person to promote communication in game, but get a gunner or two and you can focus fire all up front as well.
If any of my posts seem severely negative, it's probably because they are.

Gunner +1
Cause when that tank gets hard and it's a maddy... You can't kill it because of reload... Or overheat... (run out of time... They sprint to the redline.)
Gunner has the dps to bang it... Just rail turret aiming is........ Odd in a DS

i think a better skill bonus can be the solution. 10% by level was to hight, but now 3% is not enough for me, when you see the cost in SP.
5% per level is the better compromise I think. Add 1 hight slot in the ADS, and just a little more PC/CPU (not many) to fit 1 damage mod, and it would be great.
