My FPS experience is minimal so I'm sure I'll be told if this had been done before. Seeing as how cloaking appears to be headed our way eventually, how about the about the ability to lay still and have your tags go dark? Such a move would be especially cool for scouts, who seem to have little going for them at the moment, really giving them a tool to be a ninja of the battlefield. It would definitely give habitual tea baggers pause. Of course, there should be ways to distinguish between a corpse and a coward--some give, or detail, just like we can spot REs if we look closely. Could add an another interesting layer of strategy and play style. Imagine a heavy who just mowed down a helpless scout he found scampering in the open getting a bullet in the back of the head from a sniper rifle. Or how about a whole platoon laying still as an enemy unit passes, only to pop up guns blazing as second later. Of course, one major penalty would be if someone is good as spotting this ploy he's got you dead to rights. You guys feeling it? |

Currently, bodies disintegrate seconds after death, so a player who is playing dead would be incredibly easy to spot. |

Greetings,

Once the player hits respawn or completely bleeds out then yes the body dissolves, however the body remains there and visible until that happens. The problem is that if CCP adds that feature, many people will see the "body" and practice head-shotting it... Just in case of course.

Unneeded feature that has no real benefit IMO. Scouts already do not appear on the mini-map even while firing, even when you have team mate looking right at them so what would be the point? And anytime I am running around and see a person that does not have a friendly colored tag I light them up. Usually this is that bug where its a ghost, but if your feature where to go live it would be redundant and, if spotted, no one would think twice about emptying a clip into you as Asno said "just to be sure." |

I remember playing dead when playing Ghost Recon back in the good old days. Players immediately adapted and started shooting any dead body they see. So much for playing dead. |

Yeah, I'm not sure this would be a very enjoyable addition. In Team Fortress Classic spies could feign death, so you'd just shoot any bodies you went by. It'd be a relatively minimal use, while its counter would be a sort of tedious gameplay addition. I think any hiding in plain sight people want to do ought to look to stuff like cloaking devices/armor/whatever rather than playing dead. |

No takers, uh? Oh well. A friend of mine mentioned today that he used this technique in MGO with some success. Perhaps it could be utilized as a trap or distraction as teammates waited to pounce. And I know there's plenty of times when the fighting is too intense to stop and put a few extra bullets in the corpse just to make sure. If they ever do something like Ile Faded suggested in his post, that is, allowing us to take ammo from downed players (before they respawn), this could be a nasty surprise and a nice risk/reward, especially if the one going for the ammo has emptied the chamber in the fight. At the very least it could be a last ditch effort in a one-sided confrontation by a player who would be otherwise be a dead man. |

I dont see what is wrong with more features in the game. I say , if its remotely useful then it can have a place in the game. |

I always put a round in the head of wounded enemies so they can't blab intel back to their buddies. Also, you want to make sure they are completely dead for when CCP gets the triage gear working better... don't want a medic to regen a guy and loose the kill. Plus hearing the enemy scream like a little biznatch after executing them is very satisfying. |

it might be slightly viable if you combine the ideas...
1: Play dead would allow you to fake someone out, if they could "loot" ammo/grenades off of a corpse, possibly even Looters EXP to give it a tad more kick. (like +1 points or something of that sort) 2: Shooting the corpse would cause it to decay, so they'd get no ammo benefits from shooting every corpse they see. 3: it would have to be a skill. Not something that everyone can use by default, therefore it would be tactical to some extent. |
