I have an idea that I think could revitalise the new player experience using only a limited amount of dev time yet utilising a large amount of the game community to make something cool.
New players upon entering the game would start in one of four factionally aligned corps.
Amarr characters join ~Corp 1~ (*Insert Amarr appropriate name here*) Minmatar characters join ~Corp 2~ (*Insert Minmatar appropriate name here*) and so on for Gallente ~Corp 3~ and Caldari ~Corp 4~
Each of these New player corps would in turn have a publicly elected CEO or person of importance (If CEO is too much perhaps) who's main objective will be to organise, train, delegate with directors and generally run the New Player Corp.
* We have the CEO`s elected publicly so that we may find suitable and trusted individuals (There are a few). * The four New Player corps will of course start racially themed as that is what the new players will have available but all gear and suits are permitted so it plays just like any other corp.
The four corps will of course play in public battles and no doubt factional warfare but additionally they would have the option to fight against each other in PC style battles but only have the resources / ability to attack each other and not general merc corps in PC as to try to develop something a little more noob friendly.
* Q? What will stop vets joining and dominating with a corp of their choosing with their alts? A. Nothing. This may even be encouraged as given time and resources of players investment into these new corps, we might start to see a real environment of support for the new blood entering. Also the added bonus of the new players will see first hand just how things go down, what weapons are favoured in the meta etc..
Now obviously this is putting a lot of trust into the players hands but at this point I think given a bit of sound thinking we could pull this off and make something great.
Would we allow trading and scamming? The CEO would have to be able to have some sort of log on statement, brief but noticeable enough that the new player would always see it when logging on. There they could put relevant information and warnings.
