Hacking is the ability to change onboard computer system's recognition data to allow your team access to different spawn locations, the ability to access a Supply Depots ammo and suit reserves, and switch the data on null cannon objective to target your enemy's Mobile Command Center floating in the sky. In short, it allows you access to CRU's, Supply Depots, Turret Installation, and Null Cannon terminals which ultimately help you win the game against your opponents.
Many players have frequently asked this question toward me: "How fast can I hack these objectives/installations?"
To answers those questions, I have made a simple spreadsheet showing some comparisons of different suits with codebreakers attached.
Note that this spreadsheet assumes the user has level 5 in System Hacking and the Codebreakers used are Complex Codebreakers (Prototype level).
Simple Hacking Spreadsheet
I plan to expand this spreadsheet when I figure out the formula to figure out what determines your Hack Factor. If you head over to Protofits.com, this site will tell you what your exact Hack Factor is.
From there, to determine how fast in seconds you hack, use the following formula:
10 / [Hack Factor] = [Time in Seconds]
If you find anything in error or have additional information to add, I welcome you to add to this post. Good luck hacking out there!

This has been so helpful! I have a question. When there is overwatch on an objective would it be viable to use a speedhacking amarr heavy to try to hack the point so that it can hack it before it dies due to its large health pool?

I actually have a friend who has a speed hacking Amarr heavy just for the reason you just explained. It's pretty effective but you lose out on a lot of potential HP.
After asking me that, I realized I had a mistake on the Amarr Sentinel (Corrected it from 5 lows slots to 4). I also added a new column for quickly referencing the difference in time when adding additional codebreakers.
On paper, 2 codebreakers seem sufficient enough to be a speed hack heavy. The next 2 only bring it down by 0.6 seconds and 0.3 respectively. If 1 extra second is good enough for 2 slots, go for it. But if you want some extra buffer while sacrificing that 1 second, go 2 codebreaks and 2 armor plates.
To answer your specific situations though, I always try to have my squadmates and/or allies put suppressive fire down on the overwatch while I go for the objective. Just know that sometimes speed hacking is a sacrifice play, flipping the objective while paying for it with your life.
Good luck out there! o7

That has 2 high slots and 3 low slots.

Quote:A quick history tidbit: The Gallente Heavies used to have 1 high and 4 lows and the Amarr had 2 highs and 3 lows. That changed in one of the recent patches that switched the layout for the Sentinels slot layout, resulting in Gallente with 3 lows, Amarr with 4 lows.
This is reflected today in the Sentinels, but Heavy Frames must have been overlooked and didn't get the same changes that the Sentinel got. I might have to poke some people about that. Back on topic: I would treat the Amarr Heavy Frame as the Gallente Sentinel on the spreadsheet for now. I will start to update the sheet to include Basic Frame suits which will include the different slot layouts as you have mentioned.
Having a speed hack heavy frame such as yours, the hack speed factor will max out at 4.61 seconds with 3 codebreakers. That 3rd codebreaker, however, only gives you an extra 0.65 seconds. Like I stated before, if you need that extra half second, go for that. Otherwise, slap an armor plate to give you more sustainability while you get that hack.
Suppressive fire from teammates is still key though. Another problem you will run into is the lack of bonuses the Sentinel gives. As such, you won't receive explosive resistance nor the different resistances to weapon types, so be prepared to be a little more squishy then a Sentinel. Hacking Heavies are rare, but they aren't a laughable fit, as they still have a good amount of HP along with very lethal close range power.
So to sum it up, still a good idea, with the strength of faster hacking but not as durable as other Heavies or Sentinels you might go up against. It's great for securing a point when allies are struggling to secure it and ideal for counter-hacking points to prevent an objective switch. You'll have more HP than a Scout, Assault, or Logistics as a plus, but going toe to toe with other Sentinels might be your demise. It will help with tanking against the enemy overwatch, but I'll still recommend using allied suppressive fire on the overwatch while securing the point.
TL;DR: Still a good idea. Beware of your weakness when encountering enemies of your own class. Still highly recommend allied suppressive fire against enemy overwatch while securing the objective.
Hope this helped. o7
