The problem is that many of the "Caldari" have gone over to the Gallente side. That's where all the organised squads are now, and there are a lot in those squads that were fighting for Caldari when Caldari were winning. Now they are on the Gallente side, most probably to get Gal LP for Federation gear. When the winning returns to Caldari (when the players return) I'll be interested in playing CFW again. In the meantime, I might just try OP's tactic. :) |

This be the major difference between the ways of thinking re tank - shields are about the regen, not just the overall tank. Armour on the other hand, is all about total HP, and take an age to repair, unless you have a repair tool or triage nano nearby.
The major problem with shield tanking is that shields drop so fast with some weapons, laser particularly, and then if you have negligible armour, that will be gone too before the regen kicks in. Yes, if you can find cover you're fine, but if not, you're dead. Other than the CalSent, there's no resistance bonuses for shields on Caldari suits, resulting in a very strong argument for dual tanking (shield+armour). |
