so I've seen this a few time and its only gotten me killed a few times thought i would put this out there, so i'm using my laser rifle and find a scout right next to me, so i switch to my sub machine gun and hit right as i do it dont fire but it changes back to the prim gun !!!

That's got me killed a ridiculous number of times as I'll swap from my AR which needs reloading to my pistol then back... |

I think this bug is caused by pressing the fire (R1) button while you are changing the weapon.
Those who can't eat while playing doesn't deserve to be called pros xD

see and i thought I was doing that as well but I had my son watch my hands for a few matches and said when i seen it happen and he noted if he seen my fingers in wrong spot or overlapping buttons and it was fine from what he was able to see each time, I've found that once you change over you have to let go all the way then come back given them about a sec chance to get you but if they don't get you within that sec, look out!

This has been an issue for a long time and there doesn't seem to be a fix any time soon for it.
The only thing you can do is avoid pressing R1 for a moment after you swap or perform another action like melee or sprinting. Though usually when you need to swap to a sidearm it's in a dire moment when you need to fire another quick round.
I've experienced it with single shot weapons a lot, I would suggest using guns with automatic fire.
