Yeah so google yielded 25 different ways people are capturing video from PS3 systems. What do all you fine mercs use hardware/software wise?
Also I'm getting a beastly gaming PC from a friend who has lost interest. I'm definitely gonna be playing some Planetside 2.
Who here plays and what server should I join?
Oh and any New Eden FPS will be on PC. Jus' sayin'. |

If you are getting a PC get the AverTV HD DVR
Zero screen lag so you can play right on your PC screen and works very well with OBS for creating a very high quality stream such as music bots, follow announcements, drawing bots, and so on. This also allows you to record in 1080p as oppose to having to stoop to 720 like most other capture cards force you to do since they only record at the PS3 output resolution.
Playing through your PC also gives you the ability to live mix game with music or whatever else you please.
That is the setup I have used for almost 2 years now and I even use it for my PS4 currently (PS4 on HDMI / PS3 on Composite).
If you are going to be streaming you will definitely need a second monitor so that you can use 1 for the game and 1 for mixing down the stream.

Great info, thank you!!!
In other news PS2 is fun as hell and my new $1800 gaming computer runs everything on high/ultra and as smooth as butter. It's going to be really hard to turn on the ol PS3 anytime soon... |

Elgato HD 60 is a good start, but you'll need an HDMI splitter to get past the PS3's nonsense.
The older Elgato Game Capture HD can do it with its analog input but that model has worse picture quality and moderate input delay.
This is a positive and endearing message brought to you by Himi.

I'm sorry I friggan LOVE Planetside 2. I cannot stop playing... So much to do so little time.
I'm about to spend money on it for the first time, gonna pimp out a Liberator bomber with better cannons.
Getting my PC has been the best thing I've done for myself in 2015, not a bad way to close out a year and begin another. Master race is real - I was playing PS2 on Ultra settings while streaming a giant battle to some steam friends... I'm in love.
Those same friends want me to play CS:GO, Heroes of the Storm and H1Z1. They all said Star Wars Battlefront was fun but ultimately its a kids shooter. No real tactical elements or teamwork centric strategies IE the hero system.
I'm playing Terran Republic on Emerald character name CannaTerra... I played Planetside 1 a crap ton back in the day so forming up my old squad and joining a massive zerg makes me nostalgic. |

and before the masterrace, yup you could do the same if it were on PC.
I am not a huge fan of watching / sharing streams straight from the PS4 as they are pretty bland comparatively but it does provide a great way to share with friends so I can not knock it.
Oh and nothing beats game share on PS4. If you have not toyed with game share you should check it out. I rank it as the absolute best "extra feature" the PS4 has.

I think people are confusing biomassing with just plain leaving and not logging back in. Biomassing would require they actually give Dust a second thought and getting back on the PS3 just to delete their character.
Overwhelmingly I would say PS4. I have encountered names that I recognize from Dust on Planetside 2 and my PSN friends list has been more active since I got on PS4 than it has been in the last year. I also know of a few friends that went exclusively to xbone but next gen is next gen I suppose.

Its sad how pc you need a program to record while on the new consoles you just press a button and boom. Recording.
No more Elgato crap anyway.

Its sad how those programs absolutely dump all over the console streams in terms of video quality, frame rate, customization, and less negative effect on your gaming experience.
Oh my having to download a program and put in your password for twitch must really offset all that.
Oh and as pointed out above windows 10 has streaming built in so not even a download is required.
