Devis Lionheart wrote:Okay, so I started playing this game yesterday and I've learned most of it's mechanics. I spent multiple hours reading guides on this forum.
My first few matches in "battle academy" were pretty good. I ended my first match with 16 kills and 2 deaths.
When I noticed it was time to go in a real battle outside of "battle academy", I knew I was going to have trouble if I didn't join a squad from what I've read. So I found myself a nice squad of four people including myself and the leader decided that we would go in a domination match. I decided to use my starter dropping suits to make sure I didn't lose anything if things went south.
The good thing is that we won the match. The bad thing is that I felt like I lost.
My "kdr" had reversed... I ended the match with 2 kills and 16 deaths and only got 500 warpoints.
I'm just... confused. I don't even know what went wrong. Trying to stay with my squad only made me die by some people on top of buildings... Trying to flank made me get rolled over by 3 heavily armored vehicles... Trying to hack the objective got me killed by people with advanced weapons and protos. Trying to stick to cover only made my agony last longer.
The only thing I could do most of the match was dropping drop uplinks near the objective for my teammates and I don't even know if it helped them at all !
I expected things to be hard, but not impossible !
The only thing I could "improve" is my gear, but I don't want to risk wasting cash on weapons or suits I won't even have time to try out before dying.
As I've already said, I'm very confused on what to do next... I like how the game works so much that I'd be ready to create new characters just to replay "battle academy" over and over. I'm too scared to go back into another match just to fail as much as last time.
Any suggestion ? All questions are welcome.
I'll make it easy for you.
You need to be in a squad, one man in your squad MUST be scanning for you. That is his only role, if he dies then his scans go with him. He needs to have a Proto Gallente Logi, and must have at least three Proto Flux scanners ( the one that scans for 200 meters). Those scans must never relapse, they must be maintained 24/7. Also pay attention where you position yourselves ( check you back consistently or pay the price of squad death). The better players WILL try to flank you, and your scanners won't work on everyone.
You want one or two guys with hives and a Six kin repair tool, and a Proto Revive Needle. The Healing Logis must help to fight, they can't only heal. The last person(s?) in your squad needs to be in a killer suit, the Gallente Assault is all the rage right now, their weapons received a very good buff some time ago.
Now I realize you don't have the SP to pull this off just yet, but try to fit your suits as close as possible to this ideal.
I have an example video below to help you out. I'm not any of the people talking in the video.
