-Character names should transfer.
- Corps and Alliances already exist in EVE so they sort of have to transfere.
- AUR has to transfer and retain its real world value.. You can bet there will be some form of currency purchased with real money. If it is converted to PLEX or some other system that is fine.
- ISK should be transferred. If costs are different in the new version, or CCP wants to reign in some of the inflation problems in DUST, then ISK could be transferred according to a formula, so the amount of ISK you have is proportional to the amount you had in DUST, and if it is less than you had before, well everyone else has proportionately less as well. The amount you have would still be proportional to the work you put in, in DUST.
- Gear and Vehicles should transfer if they exist in the new version. If they don't exist they should be converted into equivalent gear or converted to ISK in DUST and transferred according to the ISK transfer formula.
- Skill Points should be transferred based on a formula so the time people put in is reflected proportionally. Say if CCP wanted to bring skill point numbers into line with EVE then they could calculate how many skill points an EVE player would get in three years with best possible implants and then determine what fraction that is of the total skill points of the DUST player with the most skill points, and then multiply every DUST players skill points by that fraction to get their new skill point allotment.
We can't transfer SP directly because there is a good chance that the skill trees will be a bit different and the skill point costs will likely be different. A complete respec is unavoidable.
The New Player Experience (NPE) needs to be sorted from the beginning so that all the new players that join this new game won't get stomped by DUST vets. That is not an argument for not transferring SP, ISK, and equipment from DUST. The new game will have vets after 6 months regardless. The NPE needs to be sorted, and if it is sorted well, then it will not matter that DUST vets get to keep their stuff.
Hand/Eye coordination cannot be taught. For everything else there is the Learning Coalition.
