So here's the thing; a while ago the breach shotty got a much deserved buff, but the reaction from the greater community was muted at best. Certainly, from my experience with the weapon post-buff, I found the breach to be underwhelming. Which is not to say that it's bad, par se, but merely adequate, and often outclassed by the STD variant. Consider; the STD will OHK all light suits, most if not all mediums, and two-shot a heavy assuming you're unloading into its back and not headshotting it like some suicidal champion. And although on paper you'd think the breach would perform better when it comes to dishing out alpha damage, in practical terms it performs much the same as the STD. It will kill al lights and most mediums in one shot, but it will not kill a sentinel outright unless you connect with the head. You're still looking at two shots. Which is unfortanate, because the RoF on the breach when you're engaging a HMG heavy sub five meters feels like you're gun is full of treacle and your suit is covered in pitch and the ground is glue and also lava. Sticky, hot lava. Anyway, it's slow. You died. You feel cheated. You switch out the breach, switch back in the STD. The lesson was learned.
Thing is, you can't fix this kind of problem with just good old fashioned number tweaking. Invrease the alpha on the breach so that OHK's all suits so long as you land the shot? Christ no, I played through that build back when cloaky scouts first happened, I lost three dedicated logis to that insanity. You can't give us a suit that has in its description "can face down a tank and not be made to look foolish" and then add, in smallprint "unless you get shot in the back with a plasma flachette weapon. Then you're toast. Sorry."
We need to make the breach different. Well, we don't need to, but it'd be cool if we did. My preference? The breach fires a sabot round (single solid sleave that guides a kinetic energy penetrator (KEP) to the target for those of you don't know), effective out to 30m, massive falloff beyond this point. Lower damage than hitting with the full pellet spread of a STD variant, but you're more accurate out to a further distance. Battlefield had them, you could even mount a scope and a laser sight onto your boomstick, it was honestly just the sweetest thing. Shotgun surgery, folks. Just consider how well it would work on a galassault with its accuracy bonus, or the galmando with its damage and reload speed for an unrelenting assault, or any scout for the very epitome of Hit and Run. We can balance the numbers to make it work, but what I'm asking for is whether you think the concept is sound and/or awesome.
Discuss.

Good Day,
So the idea in short, is a slug / bullet instead of a bunch of pellets.
Not bad, but the accuracy would have to go down. Shotguns, generally shoot lots of little pellets over a relative wide field to make sure you hit the thing you are shooting at. If you increase the projectile size, the accuracy would suffer and / or aiming becomes more important. I understand you point about laser site, etc, , but the accuracy rating number would go down.
The Kick would also need to increase.

If I can't get a ******* KEP for my goddamn tanks you sure as **** don't deserve them for shotguns.
