Devadander wrote:Current CPM started out strong. CPM feedback and suggestions in every corner of the forums. That has fizzled out quite a bit. The passion of aeon actually made me like him after a time. Breakin came out of the gate with all my concerns burning bright. Darth has always been quality over quantity. You could count the tagged posts of the rest on one hand. Well, kevall was vocal for a bit. ....Sgt Kirk... I just can't even...
Now the bitters have settled in. Aeon spends his forum time defending CCP, and breakin pops in threads to harvest tears. For every ten of their posts, we get one from Darth.
That makes three... Where's the other four?
Edit: while I do understand with 1.3 so close, there may be nothing to feedback.
Each of the CPM members play a much needed role, even if it's not outwardly apparent. (Although I completely agree that it should be)
I will take the quality comment as a compliment, as I would rather be a slow dispensary of usefulness rather than a rapid stream of BS.
Feedback threads, well, we don't always get as much heads up on things as we would like, and even then sometimes things are just set in stone by the time we have a chance to take a crack at it.
If you see us making threads, it's probably because we've had a lot of time to hash things out with Rattati and company, and are confident enough to bring the discussion into the open.
I believe Aeon made our last thread which started out alright, but inevitably devolved into toxicity. I don't blame Aeon for that, and I can understand why it might spin out of control when you are asking for feedback on nebulous game design theory or shadowy data gathering. When we are restricted to a few topics, frustration is a natural reaction from the community.
I can say nothing about 1.3 other than that it is still coming, and there are very good reasons we haven't started the feedback process on it, even though we genuinely regret that.
It is pretty cool though

In text form I come off as a straight ********, this I know.
I meant no offense. Even added that edit to show the other half, the rarely seen (on the forums) rational and understanding Dev.
Main thing that thread got me thinking about is how few of the seven we see post. Life happens, maybe some quit?
There's rumors that two of the seven are the same guy...
Sounds silly, and I'm sure you guys have enough on your plate already, but an "ask the CPM" thread once in a while might improve relations (or make them worse xD)

The right choice of title for a thread can prevent some toxicity, that is the only fault I've found on Aeon's thread.

Look, I understand that this is meant to be somewhat of an apology to the community and it really isn't the fault of the CPM as much as it is from the commands of your CCP overlords but don't apologize unless something actually changes. The lack of transparency is simply inexcusable and even if 1.3 just so happens to be the patch good enough to force me to plug my PS3 back into the wall (which I very seriously doubt) that's still no excuse for how you've left this community in the dark and basically let it die without any further update on game progression. We all basically already know that anything done to this game will just be hospice care until CCP rolls out whatever the hell CCP Patriot leaked, and finding that out through a leak was already a massive kick in the groin to this community.
I mean why the lack of transparency? What, are you afraid of corporate espionage or something? Because to me it seems like the main reason we haven't heard anything is because CCP is afraid of the reaction they get to any little thing they put out to our community. Just mull that over for a bit; they are afraid that we won't like what they tell us so their response is not to tell us.
That's some wonderful third grade logic there.

Well, "You" is a bit of a misnomer here considering I'm not CCP, but I think it's obvious that you're right.
They do not want to fail, and will do anything to ensure that if they do something, they do it right.
It is simultaneously a pragmatic and ridiculously unhealthy approach that they have chosen, but chosen they have, and we are all along for the ride.

Alright you got me there Darth, that was actually a very straightforward and genuine response and I'm glad you understand our frustration. The more you explain the more this seems like one of those 'I just work here' scenarios where no one in the CPM is to blame for the state of things.
It's just so disappointing that many of the CPM where elected with the intention of fixing this transparency issue and being better relays for the community and instead CCP is just using you lot as a focus group / figurehead for the community.

I used to feel the same way, then I realized why they linger. Why they haven't biomassed, or pawned that old ps3.

This CPM, like the previous group, were elected to bridge the gap between CCP and the player base. Not to fix it. They have the same NDA as the last group, nothing has changed there and expecting that CCP would allow them to break that at all is simple ignorance. You want answers? You stated your PS3 isn't even plugged in. That sounds more than temporary. And in regards to #PortDust514, most of us still actively play the game. Also it is a very positive outlet for our rage and displeasures regarding this game and CCP in general. I don't care that your voicing your opinion, I just find that a voice carries more weight when back by passion, than when it bellows anger. |

Dear lord Xvos, you realize I'm still a long time player of EVE right? I've also been spending the last several months gearing up a PC for Valkyrie and try to stay on top of all things CCP so you could say that in many ways I have a much greater investment in this title then people who simply continue to play DUST because it's a free-to-play title on a last-generation console and they can't afford to play Battlefront on a 980Ti. But this is all neither here nor there. I don't need to staple my balls to my lip to know it would be uncomfortable, and I don't need to spend another twenty dollars on skins to know that it's pointless given the state of DUST 514 and its inevitable port. Likewise the fact that I haven't played dust since October doesn't mean it would be any different playing it now, or magically makes my opinions invalid. Having addressed this, I don't care what your response is as it's clear that you're not worth explaining this to any further.
I've said what I needed to say, voiced my complaints, and am happy with the response I receive from the CPM. At this point the only purpose you serve is harshing the good vibes I was feeling off the tail of Darth's response.

And Darth. I've made it no secret that I'm not thrilled with all of the CPM but several of you guys are quite fit for the job and I understand how....troubling working with CCP can be. Even so I appreciate when you and Zaria and other members of the CPM come into the Biomassed podcast and do your best to talk about the game despite the restrictions CCP has placed on what you can talk about. I know most of you are doing your best, so no hate in that regard.
Now CCPs silence on the other hand has grown quite old...

Not long ago Lightening put up a good post about how there are a lot of players still watching what is going on with Dust, and want something to come back to.
A lot of people have given a lot of time and/or money to this game, and that investment doesn't magically evaporate when people stop playing for whatever reason.
Likewise, there are plenty of people whose opinions were/are anything but helpful irrespective of how much they play. Someone like Spkr only voice opinions so biased that they can't even see how they are suggesting things that would completely break the game.
The standard should not be whether or not, or for how long, someone plays/has played the game, but whether or not they can contribute to the discussion in a constructive manner.

Thank you for your continued support and as someone who does support CCP and dust I believe your opinion does carry weight. Maybe certain information should be put forward so your comments aren't taken out of context. As someone with close to 2000$ USD invested in Dust alone, plus my eve stuff, plus other misc gear and sets - I know your pain in feeling left out of the information loop. I just don't understand the need for such negativity and pessimism when it is clear that CCP is making an effort to give us what we want. It's very clear that they are still working on dust even if the average player doesn't notice or is unwill no to do the proper research into what it is they are complaining about. My comments were not meant for you. Although they were directed at you they were a generalization. I meant no offense and was trying not to make it seem a personal attack, sorry for that. I agree with you wholeheartedly. I still don't see the need for people who don't play to constantly bring their negativity back and pile it on the rest of us. If their negativity is all they are bringing, then I would agree. If they are being constructive I hope they keep contributing.

This. Strange what a random post can bring about.
Having corporate experience, I can understand fully having to watch decisions be made and put in place one doesn't agree with. Being bound to responses you know good and well won't satisfy. Picking up the pieces from someone's mistakes above you.
With that background, something as small as a thread like this gives me a reason to relax. Darth has that way about him. Answer nothing, yet everything.
