Everyone has been complaining about them but no one has put forth a real fix for it, so let me. The reason they are so game breaking is because it enables the player to completely and very quickly jump out of another players field of vision with a single press of a button. Easy mode at its best.
The issue isn't the jump height, or the splash weapons. Its the jump speed. Most people just can't react to it in time, and find themselves slowly trying to look up while they are getting bukkaked with explosives. They finally catch up to their target once they hit the ground again(if they are even still alive at this point), but the target jumps again and the whole process starts over again until the grounded player is thoroughly kkaked.
The jump mods + splash weapon combo is also a very effective counter to strafing; you can't out strafe a splash weapon.
I don't want to see jump mods removed, they add too much dynamic to be thrown out. SO THE ONLY VIABLE FIX IS TO DECREASE THE JUMP SPEED. Make it the same velocity as a normal jump, but higher therefore much longer. Players need to be given a fair chance to react and track someone trying to jump over their heads.
This will not only balance the game breaking aspect of jump mods, but increase overall airtime, allowing for further jumps between objects and therefore increase the non-combat utility function of jump mods. Not only that, as soon as players are able to react properly to it, it will actually make jumping mid combat a death sentence vs experienced players.
The reason being is the current weakness of jump mods. Once a jumper leaves the ground they are on a set trajectory. It is very easy to predict where a jumper is going while they are in the air. This is already an easy counter to jump suits for players with great aim and reaction speed (I don't like to brag but I have no trouble taking on jump suits). If and when this fix is implemented, this will be what happens to most jump suits.

I'm just expressing an idea guys I don't remember naming my thread "screw people who abuse jump mods and be cheap!"
Please follow the link in my sig its such as waste to spill tears in a GD thread.

you do realize you're the only one right? I've built up a appetite a few times but are you really so thirsty for tears you're hallucinating a QQ thread where there isn't one? I re-read my OP but can't seem to find the holy tear geyser you're enjoying right now. Enjoy anyway

Varoth Drac wrote:I agree there's a problem, but I don't agree with slowing jump speed. It would seem really weird from a physics point of view, and wouldn't let you jump further.
I suggest increasing the stamina cost of myo jumps to prevent repeated jumping. Perhaps a single jump with triple myos should completely deplete your stamina. This would allow them to be used for positioning, but less so for evasion.
Also proper stacking penalties would be good, would help reign them in a bit. It doesn't really need to make sense from a physics standpoint, it just needs to work and balance with the rest of the game. What you're suggesting doesn't address the root problem, it just limits its use. No matter how your fix gets implemented, stacking more cardiac regulators will allow for more jumping. You can get your stamina to crazy levels if you stack those things.
With my fix its a sacrifice of authenticity and realism for balance while maintaining the dynamic.
TBH you're coming from a "nerf this nerf that" mentality that has been a problem for a while. When it comes to balancing the sacrifice should never be fun for balance. Trust me, one and done jumping followed by walking around out of breath isn't fun.

Therefore introduce stamina penalty on jump for every myofib, making it so only a single jump is possible.
Problem solved. I understand that this fix will work but you guys just don't seem to get it. Its not taboo to make a game less real if it means we will enjoy it more, and its not a necessity to spoil the fun to make the game fair. Its the right idea but the wrong approach, the root of the problem needs to be addressed rather than tagging it with a condition.

It's a great idea but realistically that would take a lot of effort to implement and CCP isn't known for that lately.
