Every single match, my team gets stomped. There are players on the other team that I recognise used to play Caldari, are now playing Gallente and are often in Caldari State Peacekeeper gear, as I've noted in the past. As well as that, the other team always has well organised squads while mine is usually a disorganised rabble of solos. Except for just 3 matches today, which my team won, two of which I was a replacement in a match that was more than half over. Every single one of those 3 matches my side had squads, well organised, fighting a "team" of disorganised Gallene reds that were as ineffectual as my team usually is.
I started seeing a pattern. I wondered if this was the CFW version of the same sort of unbalanced matches that happen in pubs. I have a Gallente alt I don't use much and thought I might test out this interesting phenomenon. I logged out and back in again, selected the Gallente alt, switched my preference to GFW, and went into a new match. I could already see before we deployed there were no squads in my team. And just as you could expect, we lost. We were stomped resoundingly by the Caldari team. Each time I played, we lost to a well organised Caldari team while we were a disorganised rabble.
So clearly, I'm a jinx, right? :) Any team I deploy with is ineffectual. Perhaps the reason is that I am a solo, as are all the others in my team. So why is the other team always well organised, with squads that effectively take and hold objectives and seemingly easily redline my team? Clearly the aim of matchmaking is, where possible, have one team which is all squads plus a few filler solos, against the other team which is all solos, no squads. Why code the matchmaking in this way? This gives the worst possible imbalance for our matches, but greatly rewards squads that prefer to stomp.
I didn't play enough GFW matches to get one that we won, but I'm pretty confident that had I done so, there would have been just as much of an imbalance but in the opposite direction. Clearly the remedy for this is to always squad. Since I mainly scout, there would be no benefit to the squad in having me there, but I'll at least get matches that are unbalanced in favour of my team! :)
Now to go looking for squads that need a scout for CFW... :) |

Megaman Trigger wrote:Not too long ago it was CFW that dominated, so I guess it goes in cycles. Yes, I thought that myself, but my recent experience has told me that it's just a matter of whether you're squadded or not. If you squad you stomp, if you solo you're stomped. It doesn't seem to matter whether you're playing CFW or GFW. Or pubs.
I honestly think this is poor game design that has coding which doesn't attempt to balance or more likely deliberately unbalances the number of squads on each team. But if you think about it, this is perfect for the stompers who always squad, are always effective, and have the highest of both ISK and SP investment in the game. They are also the ones most likely represented by CPM and therefore most likely to have the matching implemented the way they want. |

If you're squadded you stomp. Simple. Doesn't matter which side you're on. The matches are always in favour of the side with the squads. |

I'm getting closer to the answer. Finding that just simply squadding means I get put on teams with squads against teams with no squads is a pretty good clue I think. The only people who don't see a problem are the ones who regularly squad and therefore are always on the winning team. When you stomp, of course, you don't see a problem.

It can NOT be 8+8+1 (you). That would be 17.
Mind. Blown.
Therefore, unless for some reason there are FW squads which are not full, solos tend to be gathered in the same match. In best scenario, they do have a squad of 8 with them. Maybe the rest eight are solos again.
So you're saying you think it's really just an "accident" of the game design? Yes, I get that the simple maths makes it imperative that a team full of squads will have no solos. My point was that the OTHER team is ALWAYS solos, no squads.
At least that's been my experience, in both CFW and most recently GFW. I managed to get invited to a squad of eight, and there was at least one more squad on my team. I didn't see any squad leaders on the other team and we completely dominated.
I think people just can't get their minds around the idea that this game is simply not fair, in that it's not balanced, simply can't be balanced, while squads are put on one team against solos on the other. |

You role players are just weird... lol And we "role-players" think you guys have no loyalty!
No I don't have a min alt. I have Caldari and Gallente pilots in EvE and I've just done the same thing in Dust. I like to explore the different tactics and weaponry of the two races. I segregate the two, because I want to see how the two different races have to be trained to fully exploit their race's attributes. Caldari and Gallente are related in a way - they both use hybrid weapons, for instance, because they used to be in the one Federation together until Caldari rebelled. I like to explore the differences.
I'm not interested in either Amarr or Minmatar, or I would have those too. Yes, I suppose you could call this "role-playing" but I don't see it that way, I just like to explore differences. |

Get yourself a scout with Uplinks. If nothing else, you can at least capture a single point with enough back up to last you 6 whole seconds. Ah, you saw me in my brief experiment with my State Samurai suit! It didn't last long. I still have the suit, but I haven't figured out how best to use it yet.
I'm normally a scout. The very first State suit I got was a State Hawk Scout. I've extensively modified and buffed it since, and now do quite well in any matches I run it in. I mostly hack installations and surprise kills when I discover the opposition at an installation I'm trying to hack.
But one good scout on a team of solos can't turn the tide against a team of squads. |

I'm seeing a ridiculous number of players in State Rasetsu suits with State Rail Rifles. These are people who've played CFW to get the suits - I remember some of them from CFW - and then switched to GFW but are still using the Caldari gear.
Rail rifles got a buff recently also, and are quite good with Caldari Assault suits like the Rasetsu. I have seen some APEX Rasetsus running around with assault rifles, but scrubs like that are rare - all the State Rasetsus I've seen have been sporting rail rifles of one form or another. |

Kaltos Darksbane wrote:Blame FOTM chasers. Yes, I do! And I also blame CCP - they created a game that suits FOTM chasers.
If CCP had created Dust to have the same sorts of bonuses on suits as ships do in EvE, the only way FOTM chasers could get any joy is by training the suits as well as the weapons. EvE ships have phenomenal bonuses for the right weapons, which can multiply the lethallity of the ship, with rof, damage, etc. Of course you have to have the right skills as a pilot to fly the ship in the first place. It's a whole heap harder to be a FOTM chaser in EvE. It's a no brainer in Dust. |

There is no reward to stay and fight a losing battle.
Yes, you're right, of course. And this hilights another issue I have with CCP's design of this game - it's designed to create imbalance. Instead of being paid for making the effort, you get paid a pittance if you lose. Where is the incentive to even stick at a match to the end, to see if you can turn the tide? It would be even better if there was a fixed amount for each side, win or lose, and that amount was divided amongst the remaining team, a la pubs.
But that would be too balanced. CCP doesn't want balance. They've coded a game which is inherently IMBALANCED. It is either extremely bad coding or it's deliberate. |

That's what I'll get if I get an APEX level suit. The Tiger scout is Minmatar. I'd have to do MFW to get the LP to get that.
Unless you meant the APEX Tiger Scout, which I would never get because I'd have to spend AUR to get it.
It is a good suit, though. :) |

Have fun morons. I have noticed very few matches where both sides had squads. Mostly I play solo so I'm always on the team without squads. I know there are squads in CFW that stomp because I've been stomped by them playing GFW, but my team had no squads. It would be easy enough to put squadded teams against each other, but that just doesn't seem to happen. Perhaps it's just because of the availability of squads on both sides at the same time. Whatever the reason, balanced matches just don't happen. |

I had a GFW match on my Gal alt this morning which had squads on both teams. I was in a squad of 8 and we had to fight to win. It was great. It's such a pity that these events are so rare.
I also noticed while looking for a squad later that there were plenty of GFW squads but absolutely zero CFW squads in the making. |
