I hear so many people say they don't get anything from boxes, good players that worked hard in this game and it doesn't seem entirely right. They play fair (somewhat) and spend either a lot of time or a lot of money (recolate 1 player stating that from beta to now he spent around $1000 on dust, the only thing I know he has is a quafe bpo). It seems luck based butI feel that hard working, fair players deserve at least one box bpo. Is there no way to to switch the luck roll with daily accumulated WP roll?
Now, on note of me, I am not stated this for me in any way, I have gotten 6 bpo's from boxes and I have barely worked as hard as some of the lazy players. Hard work should be rewarded, not pure luck.
A bit for Archduke, If you are reading this I have 2 quafe mass driver bpo's and I was wondering, could you take one and give to some poor soul as a christmas gift? My angel cartel light skin too? (untradeable) Please sir.

When they first started giving keys in daily missions and introduced quafe stuff in strongboxes, I had a friend who opened either one hundred or tow hundred boxes. I think it was a hundred but I was with him when he opened them and he only got consumables (mostly garbage ones at that). Throughout the week after that, I just signed in for my daily rewards then played one game which I won. I opened one of my hundreds of boxes and got a quafe PLC. A few weeks later I played a game in the morning, got my key, opened a box, quafe CR. I love them both but I really do feel that it was unfair. I didn't earn them and I only use the PLC when I give up on matches.

Unfairness or unfair systems are the thing that will turn me off fastest of anything. There is no way that a supposedly luck-based system that consistently gives individuals not one but many prized items can be called fair. Just because it's luck based does not make it fair. It's just lucky! The assumption is luck is egalitarian, that everyone has the same luck, and therefore everyone has the same chance of getting a good item.
But what if that assumption is incorrect? There's a funny thing about luck. Just because some chance based thing has happened exactly the same for the last 50 times does not mean it is going to be the same next time. Or that it has to be different. Every event has the same chance of occurring as it did the last time and the next time.
If CCP wants to be fair they need to stop with the luck based stuff and start dishing out goodies based on some sort of performance measures. People will complain about that too, I'm sure but at least it will be "fair". |

I once open 7 boxes (cause thats how many keys i have at the moment) and all 7 of the boxes give a fair amount of officer weapon. Now you might think this makes me happy but the true gem in this boxes are the skin modules my friends.

It's basically like the lottery. A guy that spent $100 on the lottery may not get anything. Meanwhile a guy that spends $5 might win a million bucks. It is how the lottery works. |

It's EXACTLY like a lottery! If this is supposed to be in any way "fair" they should start calling it what it is. People are thinking they should get their share of the goodies, but lotteries don't work that way.
I've gotten some pretty nice stuff from strongboxes myself, but absolutely no BPOs and since I don't gamble, I won't pay for keys to unlock the thousands of the things I have.... |

Is it really that bad? so what he has spent money on a game and hasn't got special treatment. he was a beta player big woop, didnt some of them get a bpo? there have been times where he could buy a few bpo's in a bundle for like 20,000 AUR im sure he got the bundles or whatever. its not like they are obliged to give him something..
although i like the bottom part c: sorta nice little thing, i have they take both of your bpo's and turn them into snowball launchers and just leave them with the default damage or change it to 0. always fun to have more snowballs flying. if they shot rainbow snowballs tho O.O would be op.

I do spend $0 on keys, and have gotten lots of nice stuff . But no BPOs unfortunately. Well, after all, it is a casino... :) |

If it were a lottery system where keys were tickets I could more easily accept it, but since you have to work to get keys and boxes you deserve something, depending on the work of course. Other wise, people might as well recruit alts and farm for, what was it, 15 BPO's?
We have scanners, boxes have contents, maybe we could at least be able to see what's inside and work to get what's needed to open it.
On a side note, recruit gear has militia stats but has damage output between basic and advance.

If i had my way strongboxes would only spit out militia and standard gear while collecting tears. Only strongbox modifications i support is making them worse or removing them.

I would really only like to see all modules and adv AUR gear removed from strongboxes, love getting 3 sets of adv knives when i open 10boxes lol, does anyone actually use the AUR gear they get? cause i hardly ever do lol cause whenever i go to restock in game i gotta go into the fitting and restock to and ahhh just takes way too long.

I got qaufe combat,mass,and amarr heavy skin.funny thing was i just protoed min commando and i got qaufe mass so i was well happy
But yeah rewards seem to be radom witch is good.

i've had the Quafe laser rifle bpo and i think the minmatar brutor commando bpo from opening roughly 500 boxes over the course of their introduction. most from collecting daily keys and special events, other from buying bulk with left over AUR from merc/vet/elite packs ect. feel quite cheated. i know several other players who have only opened boxes with free keys and have 4-6 BPOs from it

Managed to get a Quafe Rail Rifle. I hadn't been in battle for a week or two, had only really gotten on for the login bonus and warbarge, I had no keys, and figured I'd go ahead and get my daily and some extra SP to level my codebreakers. Finish battle, go ahead and open a box with my single key because I'm impatient, Quafe. My other two Quafe are the Saga BPO and the Swarm Launcher. I don't use any of these three things and have no clue what to do with any of them. I seriously wish we could trade them already. I've got four LAV BPOs I'm never going to do anything with.
The thought that Dust 514 may one day be the game we dreamed it to be.

I like to make fits with the Caldari- suited gear I get. For a lark I also put together fits with other gear but I never use them. I use the Caldari stuff just to see how good it is. I don't care about losing it because I would never have bought it in the first place and will never replace it, but I don't see the point in just leaving it sit there unused. |

lol "exciting" . No not really. I open 10 boxes when I get 10 keys from dailies. I see what comes out of them. It's never any good. Sometimes there's an item I can use, but since I only use Caldari gear, that's pretty rare. The cr@p I get otherwise is pretty useless to me. No BPOs. Just cr@p. |

Two guarantees to opening boxes:
You will never get the quafe you want.
You will hardly ever get anything good opening less than 30 at once.
The more boxes you open in a row, the higher the odds of receiving good stuff. I have opened 2000 boxes.... Using 8-20 keys is a waste. Save them until you have 30 or more. Open 10, and always use the open more option.
Heed my advice, and you will start to see skins, and quafe weapons.

The AUR version of the gear I use I let build up until I have at least 150 of them and then I'll equip the item; this prevents me from having any real issues when it comes down to restocking fits. |

Really? I thought people were saying don't open one at a time, open 10. Now we're told open as many at once as possible. Why does this change the "luck"? Is there some subroutine that determines "oh they've opened x number already in this session, better give them something good!"? Then it's not luck.
Frankly, my experience of opening strongboxes is that it doesn't matter how many I open in a row, I never get anything good. I get lots of stuff but none of it is worth anything much to me. Even a skin is likely to be for a suit I don't use. I only run Caldari on this character, so I have a 3 in 4 chance of any skin being for a suit I don't use. My Gallente alt got an Amarr skin of some sort. She can't use that either. If we could trade stuff maybe some of what comes out of strongboxes would be worth something.
This is supposed to be a means by which CCP encourages people to buy AUR to get keys, but since it's never worked for me, they have Buckley's chance of getting me buying keys that way... |

That sounds like a really good plan. I think with all my AUR gear, the suits run out fastest (lowest number of them) and I use them up until they're gone, so I don't have them hanging around and so that I don't use my ISK and LP gear in the meantime. When I run out of the suits, I delete the fitting until next time I have enough of them... |

I think all basic and advanced gear should be removed from boxes cause there's nothing more spiteful than opening 10 boxes and getting half pro and half std/adv
Or even opening 10 and getting 3 different strong box stacks

I've opened (2) sets of 10 lockboxes this week and got a BPO each time. First was scrambler rifle and second was a plasma cannon. I said a little bpo prayer both times, so I'm gonna stick with that. |
