I just had possibly my best match ever and I played it entirely in a Frontline CA suit! OK, so it had some militia BPO shield extenders, but other than that it was stock standard.
I got 221K ISK and 9449 SP with K/A/D of 11/4/15 and 1224 WP. I am totally amazed. I think I've figured out something significant here. When you run militia fits you have to be a better merc than if you have fits with good shielding/armour and better weapons. Otherwise you just die too much. Well I died plenty, but nowhere near as much as I expected to, and with scores like that, clearly I did something right. We lost by the way, but it was a great game.
I was concerned about the slow shield recharge of a militia fit, so I guess I was being more careful than I usually am about what state my shields were in. Maybe that's why I didn't die so much - becoming complacent about your tank is a sure fire way to die a lot. But what truly amazed me was the level of my competence as a merc now. It seems to have gone up a notch since not so long ago when I was lamenting not being able to hit the side of a barn...
To all those who have repeatedly said here and elsewhere, that the best training comes from running standard or militia fits, thank you for the insight. My most recent match is total proof that is a good policy! |

Genral69 death wrote:What no pic, where's the evidence I don't know if you're talking to me, but I'll assume you are. I have tried to get screenshots of my PS3 in the past and nothing works. So I don't even bother trying now. I don't know how other people get screenshots or why I can't but it now no longer even crosses my mind. I kept the last battle sitting there while I was taking down the numbers, but other than that, the evidence is gone.
In any case, I wasn't so much gloating as remarking on the amazing outcome from using a militia fit. With the addition of the militia shield extension BPOs it wasn't a starter fit, but still was nothing compared even with my normal modified Rasetsu or even Hawk fits.
The point is, I played brilliantly (for me) with what I thought was a suit I would just die in.
And this morning, I played a match in my Hawk Scout Fast fit, won the match and I was at the top of the killboard. The top player on the other team had a better WP score, but clearly our teamwork was more effective. I'm now applying these same principles to any suit I use, and I continue to be amazed. |
