Dom needs to change. The main issue of Domination is that it is currently the only gamemode that is available (at a lot of times) and it is very rare to get a different gamemode. Besides that in domination there has developed a gameplay that is ruining dust for me currently and perhaps also for other players.
Every gamemode has it tactics:
Ambush: Attack rush/Defend and hold
Skirmish: Speed deploy, attack, defend, Strategy
Acquisition: Speed deploy, Mass attack on one point, point switches new situation new chances.
Domination: Speed deploy, Mass attack one point, one gives up and public disorder.
Public disorder leads to redline snipers, redline tank snipers that donGÇÖt care for the point. Meanwhile people of the other team will get annoyed because they keep getting killed by a sniper shot while they canGÇÖt do much against it because they are so far in the redline. Also when the snipers are far in the redline it will create a situation where the people that still try to get the point are getting outnumbered and 1 vs 6 wonGÇÖt be odd at that moment.
For me itGÇÖs also a pain that when I play in those matches I can turn op on top of the leaderboard with loosing more stuff then in usual matches and loosing the match without having achieved anything and being outnumbered the entire time. This could also be because there is just one point and as long as you donGÇÖt have it thereGÇÖs no secondary target where the team could switch to.
Also a small note about vehicles, dropships get shot down from the redline directly and tanks can only drive forward and backward because else you would already be in the enemy redline. So vehicles on most maps are useless. You will never have a nice tank battle in a dom.
The part of dom that is still good are the city maps. You canGÇÖt snipe directly on the area around the point and you have more chance that people try to get the point. But city maps are pretty rare in my opinion.
Best solution to me currently is to change domination or remove a huge part of the maps and mass attacking one point wonGÇÖt help a lot in FW or PC. Acquisition contains a lot about what dom needs to be. Removing dom will solve the problem to find other gamemodes.
Some suggestions to change dom:
- Shaman Oga his idea would be perfect. (is mentioned somewhere on the forum)
- Have more city maps in the rotation or maps which donGÇÖt have direct view on the area around the objective. That way snipers need to get out of the redline to snipe.
- Increase the distance between the objective and the redline because it provides more ways to the point and better opportunities to do something about the snipers. (or remove vehicles like in ambush)
Just my opinion and yes domination makes me tired.
